Matthew met her gaze calmly, not the slightest bit surprised by her sudden change in demeanor. "I want to know everything you've got on the Medusa Gang. The clearer, the better."

The Medusa Gang had been one of the players behind the hijacking of overseas Marine Corps cargo. That last deal, the one that went missing, was likely tied to them. If he could track them down, he might just be able to recover that shipment—or at least find a trail.

At his words, the amusement in Kelsey's expression faded. Her features tightened with gravity. "Mr. Larden… do you even realize what you're asking? You know what kind of power the Medusa Gang holds, don't you? You really think someone like me—a mere brothel manager—would know anything about them?"

Matthew chuckled lightly. "A brothel manager? No, no, Ms. Kelsey. Do I look like some drifter to you?"

Kelsey didn't respond right away. Instead, she fell into thought, weighing the risk. Should I take this deal? Is this man worth selling Medusa Gang intelligence for? And what if he's one of them?
