Kelsey had told him the scout was the only one living in this alley. But now, the fact that the coppery tang hung thick in the air left a gnawing sense of unease in Matthew.

When he reached the small house at the end of the path, he knocked evenly on the front door.

Matthew paused for a moment, then raised his voice as if calling out casually. "John, you in there? You left your jacket at our place—I brought it back for you."

The moment his voice rang out, he picked up the faintest noise from within. A nearly imperceptible rustle. A smile tugged at the corners of Matthew's lips, but his eyes turned cold.

Well, well… they really are still in there.

It didn't take much for Matthew to put the pieces together. He already had a good idea of who the intruders were—those venomous snakes from the Medusa Gang, always lurking in the shadows.
