Dorian heard Alex's voice, but before he could ask, Josefina calmly replied. "I'm heading back now."

After hanging up, she turned to Dorian, "I need to get back to the office. I'm taking off."

"Don't worry, I'll give you a lift," Dorian offered gallantly. "We came together, and it's rush hour now. Hailing a cab would be a nightmare."

"Thanks, Dorian," she nodded gratefully.

"My pleasure."

As they walked towards the car, Dorian looked at his sister with an adoring gaze and made jovial conversation while they were walking.

Their cheerful banter didn't go unnoticed. Lauren, who was at the hospital to pick up some medication for her blood pressure that had spiked after a rollercoaster of emotions, caught a glimpse of the siblings.

Billy wanted to cut expenses, so he dismissed several house staff, leaving only one to cook and clean the rooms. Some tasks had to be done personally by Lauren now.

Lauren stood beside Ruby, both noticing the scene of Josefina and Dorian chatting and laughing.

"Looks like Josefina's got herself a new man. No sense of propriety," Ruby sneered.

Lauren, with a mouth full of bitter words, egged her on, "Ruby, quick, take a photo. Later, I'll find her, and we'll use the picture to blackmail her. Then we won't have to pay that ten million dollars."

"Mom, you think that'll work? We have to hand over that money by noon."

"We've got a few hours yet. Hurry up and take the picture before they leave."

The bodyguards looked at them as if they were fools. "What are you blabbering about? That's our lady, Mr. Dorian's own sister. I'm warning you, if you slander Ms. Josefina again, we'll knock your block off."

The silent bodyguard's gaze pinned Lauren and Ruby in place, leaving them too intimidated to utter another word.

After the bodyguards left, Lauren and Ruby refused to believe the truth. Since when did Josefina suddenly have a brother? And these bodyguards looked like they meant business, not just for show.

"Josefina's luck is just outrageous," Lauren fumed. "Her brother looks very refined, and his appearance is impeccable. The suit he's wearing doesn't show any brand, but the quality seems good, probably custom-made. And that watch on his wrist, even your dad wouldn't splurge on it. It’s worth five million."

The more Lauren talked, the angrier she got. "That girl, pretending to be poor when she's rolling in it? Is she afraid I'll bleed her dry?"

Ruby stayed silent. She knew if Lauren and Billy found out about Josefina's wealth, they'd surely bite off more than they could chew.
