As expected, Harrison’s furious voice came roaring down the hall:

“This is your apology?”

“What do you do all day, exactly?”

“Triple it—three thousand words. Go back and rewrite it!”

Logan fell silent.

Really, how could anyone be surprised?

Two minutes later, Marcus returned, looking utterly defeated, eyes glazed as if his world had been turned upside down.

“How did this even happen…?”

Logan just gave him a sympathetic look.

Meanwhile, after thoroughly berating Marcus, Harrison glanced over and noticed Anastasia’s written apology on the desk beside him. Instantly, the fire in his eyes faded.

His long fingers brushed over the paper, smoothing out a corner that had been bent in her haste.

A moment later, he picked up Anastasia’s apology and, with the utmost care, placed it in the safe along with his most important documents.

Anastasia spent a few days at home, and once she felt completely recovered, she decided it was time to head back to campus.

As she finished packing and prepared to leave for her apartment, she ran into Thomas.

He still hadn’t fully recovered from his injuries—his face looked almost ghostly pale. He stood in silence before Harrison, waiting to hear his fate.

There was no way he could avoid responsibility for what happened. Alice had gotten the medical files from him—even if he hadn’t handed them over intentionally, he’d been careless, too trusting of Alice, and hadn’t guarded himself against her. That alone made him culpable.

Not to mention, he’d later tried to handle things on his own, sneaking off to rescue Alice by himself. Because of that, Anastasia had ended up in danger too. The fact that Harrison didn’t immediately fire him was only thanks to Thomas’s years of loyalty and the work he’d put in.

But keeping him close was out of the question now.

Harrison told him he’d be transferred back to Riverton.
