Tyrone took Alicia on a trip to the Maldives.

Alicia’s heart was pounding with excitement.

As luck would have it, when they boarded the plane, they ran into Winnie in the first-class cabin.

Winnie had apparently just been promoted to chief flight attendant, and the confidence on her face was unmistakable.

She’d always been ambitious—never shying away from letting the world see it. She wore her drive openly, like a badge of honor.

Alicia watched, propping her chin on her hand, as Winnie greeted first-class passengers in a handful of different languages. She was poised, radiant, and unmistakably self-assured. To Alicia, she seemed to light up the entire cabin.

As Winnie walked by, Alicia couldn’t help but call out to her, grinning.

Alicia had never really had friends growing up; Winnie was the first person to ever reach out and say, “Let’s be friends.” Whatever Winnie’s reasons might have been, Alicia had always admired her for it—Winnie just seemed so impressive.

Everything Alicia envied seemed to come so naturally to Winnie.

Catching the look on Alicia’s face, Tyrone smiled, and even his usually reserved demeanor softened a bit toward Winnie.

“Sir, may I hang your coat for you?” Winnie asked, stepping up with a pleasant smile and hanging Tyrone’s jacket with practiced ease.

Alicia leaned over and whispered, “What a coincidence!” when Winnie passed by.

Winnie winked at her, and, when the other passengers weren’t looking, slipped a few pieces of imported chocolate into Alicia’s hand.

Alicia beamed. This was something special—none of the other passengers got any, not even Tyrone. Just her.

Winnie went off to attend to the rest of the cabin, leaving Alicia gazing delightedly at her chocolates. She couldn’t resist showing off a little. “Look, these are just for me!” she told Tyrone, her eyes shining.

Tyrone nodded indulgently. “That’s right, only for you.”

Alicia unwrapped a piece and popped it into her mouth. The chocolate was sweet, melting on her tongue—she felt the happiness spread all the way to her heart.

She looked out the window at the panorama of clouds and sky, feeling as if she were dreaming.

All those years of hardship and loneliness suddenly seemed so trivial.

He smiled helplessly, a little sheepish.

At first, he’d just wanted to keep Alicia close, to protect and shelter her, hoping that would finally give her a sense of security. That was why he’d thought about waiting a few years before letting her study abroad.

But as it turned out, his sweet little “bunny” was far more ambitious than she appeared. Instead of treating her like some pampered kept woman, maybe it was better to be the support she needed to chase her dreams.

“I’m so good to you—maybe you could spare a little love for me, too…” Tyrone murmured quietly.

He wished Alicia could give him even a fraction of the love she’d once given Vincent.

“Hm?” The plane was taking off, engines roaring, and Alicia didn’t quite catch his words.

Tyrone just shook his head. “It’s nothing.”

Exhaustion finally caught up with him. He’d been busy finishing up work for days, barely getting any rest; not long after takeoff, Tyrone drifted off to sleep.

Winnie stopped by with a blanket for Alicia, giving her a knowing wink as she tucked it around her.
