When Tyrone left the Lynch family estate, he crossed paths with Easton and the butler returning from outside.

Easton hesitated, worry flickering in his eyes as he glanced at Tyrone, wanting to say something to his older brother. But Tyrone didn’t acknowledge him, brushing past without a word.

Easton's shoulders slumped. He stared at the floor, hurt and confused. Why did it seem like he and Tyrone could only ever be rivals?

“Come inside, sir. Your grandfather is waiting for you,” the butler murmured gently.

Easton snapped out of his daze and followed the butler into the old man’s study.

Downtown, at a cozy dessert shop.

Tyrone slipped into the small, warmly lit shop and dropped into a chair at a cramped square table, silent and withdrawn.

He’d been like this since childhood. Whenever things got too heavy, he’d come looking for Fern.

Back then, Fern had been the head butler at the old Grandcrest City manor.

Tonight, Fern locked up early, flipping the “Closed” sign on the door, and personally made a bowl of fruit and dumpling soup for Tyrone—a sweet, comforting dish from his boyhood.

“Here you go, sir.” Fern’s hands trembled slightly as he set the bowl down—he was getting up there in years now.

But he always wore a gentle smile.

Years ago, Tyrone and Fern had raised a golden retriever together. That big, loyal dog died when it was eight, and Fern had buried it beneath a mimosa tree near the family chapel.

From the little courtyard behind the shop, a tiny golden retriever puppy scampered in, paws stumbling, tail wagging—a fluffy ball of energy, barely old enough to walk.

“That one’s Money’s grandson,” Fern said with a chuckle as he placed the puppy in Tyrone’s lap.

Tyrone froze, a little stiff and uncertain.

His aversion to mess had only grown as he got older. He’d stopped keeping pets—dogs’ lives were just too heartbreakingly short.

“Take him home with you. Raise him in Seaview,” Fern urged softly.

That old retriever had been a therapy dog, bought to comfort Tyrone during a rough patch.

“Sir… you’re too kind for your own good.”

Everyone else called Tyrone a monster. Cold. Ruthless. Even accused of being a devil who’d killed his own mother.

But Fern knew better. He knew the root of Tyrone’s misery was his own stubborn kindness.

Tyrone couldn’t bring himself to destroy Lynch Corporation because, deep down, he still cared about Maddox—about the bond between grandfather and grandson.

But this time, the old man had truly gone too far.

“That brother of yours—Easton—he seems like a good kid,” Tyrone murmured, almost to himself.

He’d even considered mentoring Easton.

Fern sighed, recognizing that Tyrone’s heart was softening.

“Raising a tiger cub, sir… that’s always dangerous,” Fern said, shaking his head. “Easton’s only nineteen. He’s still a teenager—hasn’t seen the uglier side of life yet. Maybe he’s genuinely innocent now… but people change. Innocence doesn’t last in this world.”
