Tyrone looked straight at Alicia, his eyes serious. "I love you."
If he didn’t love her, why would he have gone to such lengths, planning and working for their future?
Alicia's gaze wavered, her eyes welling up. The next moment, she sprang up and threw her arms around Tyrone.
He said he loved her, so she believed him.
Because Tyrone wasn't the sort of man who compromised easily; he certainly wasn't someone who tossed out the word “love” without meaning it.
Tyrone gave a small smile, holding Alicia close as he walked out with her still wrapped around him.
His assistant trailed after them, half-jogging while pushing the suitcases, doing his best to pretend he hadn’t heard a thing.
The best scenario would be for Alicia and Tyrone to treat him like he was invisible right now.
“Mr. Lynch… are you sure you still want me on your team?” Felix asked nervously just before they got in the car.
Tyrone shot him a puzzled look. “What’s this, Felix? Planning to jump ship?”
Felix raised a hand, swearing. “Absolutely not, sir. Never crossed my mind.”
Tyrone narrowed his eyes. “Then what’s got your conscience acting up?”
Felix took a deep breath and confessed in a low voice, “I messed up. I didn’t pick up on things. I always thought you and Miss Shelton had a simple contract marriage, that she was just your… well, your sugar baby. Like all those other big shots with their side pieces…”
He added, even quieter now, “I even took Miss Shelton to meet a friend of mine who’s, uh, got experience with that sort of thing. I thought she could pick up some tips on, you know, ‘sugar baby etiquette’…”
Tyrone finally understood why, back then, Alicia kept calling him “Daddy” and acting so weirdly sweet.
So it was Felix who’d corrupted his wife.
Grinding his teeth, Tyrone let out a slow breath. “There’s a project Evercrest Group is starting up in the middle of nowhere. Why don’t you go take a nice, long break out there and reflect.”
Felix looked like he might burst into tears. “Mr. Lynch, please have mercy!”
Tyrone just grunted, climbed into the car, and slammed the door.
Alicia watched the two of them through the window, curious. What on earth were they muttering about out there? The vibe was definitely off.
Alicia and Tyrone returned to their house and, just like any ordinary couple, set about making dinner together.
Cooking side by side, eating together at the table—it was simple, domestic happiness.
Alicia noticed that since Tyrone had left Lynch Corporation, he seemed to have more time for her than ever.
“Tyrone, don’t be sad,” Alicia said, looking at him earnestly. “Once I graduate, I’ll get a job and take care of you.”
Tyrone smiled. “Alright.”
Ding-dong.
The doorbell rang.
Because naturally, just when a couple is enjoying a quiet, happy evening, someone has to show up and ruin it.
Alicia glanced at the doorbell camera.
It was Nicole.
