All the way home, Tyrone stayed silent. Easton, truth be told, wasn’t in much better shape than he was.

At least until the money Tyrone was holding got swindled away, he was relatively safe—for now.

As long as he could stall Lawson & Co. on the other end, the people behind the scenes wouldn’t act too rashly in the short term. Still, Easton was just a teenager, a kid at heart, prone to making mistakes if left alone.

When they finally got inside, Alicia asked offhandedly, “Honey, I have a prenatal checkup tomorrow. Will you come with me?”

To Tyrone, though, it sounded almost like she was flirting.

And flirtation like that, intentional or not, was utterly disarming.

He scooped her up in his arms, carrying her through the door. “Of course I’ll go with you.”

He didn’t want to miss a single milestone with Alicia or the baby on the way.

He really was looking forward to this child.

His palm rested gently over the small swell of her belly, his thoughts a tangled mess.

If nothing unexpected happened, he might not even be able to be there when Alicia gave birth…

After everything was resolved, he’d have to disappear for a while, just to be certain Alicia and the baby would be safe.

Easton had originally wanted to take Winnie and Lena out for barbecue, but Winnie, ever the generous one, swept them into a fancy restaurant instead.

“Order anything you like,” Winnie said, flashing a bright smile. “It’s on me.”

Easton’s ears turned pink as he nodded.

“Easton,” Lena spoke up, “my stomach’s bothering me a bit. Could you walk me home first?”
