“I—I’m healthy. I’ve never even dated anyone,” Easton promised, looking earnest.

Winnie nodded, amused by how innocent this boy was. “If you know you’re healthy, all the more reason to protect that. But can you be sure that girl from before was healthy too? You can’t just take chances with this stuff.”

Easton blinked, finally realizing Winnie had been warning him about Lena’s health all along.

His ears turned pink again as he glanced at Winnie. Was she jealous? Did she not want him getting close to Lena? “Don’t worry, I’m not the kind of guy who does that with just anyone.”

Winnie nodded in approval, then added, “Kissing is off-limits too. You know that can spread things as well.”

Easton nodded obediently.

Winnie handed him the menu. “Good, since you’re being so well-behaved, lunch is on me.”

Lena hurried out of the restaurant and, barely holding it together, called Natalia.

“Natalia, there’s this woman named Winnie always hanging around Easton. She keeps ruining any chance I have to be alone with him. It’s obvious she’s got it out for me. I can’t even get close, let alone build a connection,” Lena whispered, voice trembling.

Natalia’s irritation was palpable. Both Alicia and Winnie were nothing but troublemakers—they needed to be dealt with, and fast.

“Don’t worry. Their arrogance won’t last much longer,” Natalia said through gritted teeth.

Once Lawson & Co. managed to scam Tyrone’s inheritance away, and once Jade White’s people took care of Tyrone, Alicia would be powerless to help herself or Winnie. They’d be left with nothing—completely at their mercy.

“Just be patient,” Natalia continued. “Don’t push too hard—Easton’s not an idiot. Coming on too strong won’t help.”

“Okay…” Lena exhaled shakily, lowering herself onto a park bench. Tears slid down her cheeks before she could stop them.
