Italy.
Alicia had slept through most of her flight, so when she stepped off the plane, she was genuinely surprised to see Sean Quinn waiting for her at arrivals.
It was obvious—Sean really loved Yvonne. He clearly didn’t mind being sent on errands for her, even if it meant personally chauffeuring Alicia.
“There are lots of pickpockets around here. Your aunt—” Sean, never much of an actor, almost let something slip and quickly changed the subject. “She asked me to pick you up, just in case.”
Alicia kept her expression neutral as their bodyguard loaded their luggage onto a cart and led them out of the terminal.
Standing in a foreign airport, Alicia was suddenly hit by a strange sense of emptiness.
Even though she had come here to study, she couldn’t help but miss the days she’d spent with Tyrone.
She wasn’t the type to wallow in happiness, though. She knew she needed to grow up, to become independent, to prove her worth, to be strong.
Otherwise, she’d only ever be a burden to Tyrone.
As the car sped down the highway, Alicia gazed out the window, lost in thought. The Italian countryside almost reminded her of home—it made it feel as if she hadn’t traveled very far at all.
The Estate.
Sean drove them straight to the villa Tyrone had left behind for Alicia. The moment they stepped out of the car, Winnie was stunned. The place was enormous—so big it felt empty unless everyone moved in together.
Thankfully, Felix had already contacted the housekeeper and staff before Alicia’s arrival, so the entire place, inside and out, was spotless.
“Whoa…” Winnie wandered through the living room, running her hands over the furniture. “Just how much did Tyrone leave you, anyway?”
Realizing she’d mentioned Tyrone again, Winnie quickly clapped a hand over her mouth and glanced back at Alicia.
Alicia was sitting by the window, staring out at nothing.
She and Tyrone had made plans—he was supposed to shift his work here so he could be with her while she studied.
But now… everything had changed.
Winnie jumped so hard she nearly fainted.
Alicia saw him at last. She shot to her feet, her eyes wide, tears welling up instantly.
He was here—he’d come all the way to see her.
Tyrone looked thinner than before, but otherwise, he seemed okay.
It took Winnie a while to process what was happening. When she finally realized Tyrone had faked his death, she let out a deep breath, muttered a quick “thank God,” and made a beeline out of the living room.
Alicia, eyes red, threw herself into Tyrone’s arms. “Are you hurt?”
Tyrone gave her a soft smile and ruffled her hair. “I’m fine. I’ve mostly recovered…”
If he hadn’t been well, Clayton and the others would never have let him come see her.
