"Oh my gosh, I've had my eye on this bag forever, but my husband just wouldn't get it for me." Aunt Martha beamed, suddenly finding Alicia much more likable. "Alicia, how long are you staying in Harboridge City? If you have time, I'll take you out shopping."

Alicia opened her mouth, stunned by how quickly everyone's attitudes had changed.

Once the aunts and uncles had said their goodbyes and left, Alicia leaned in and whispered, "Tyrone, when did you get those gifts ready?"

Tyrone smiled. "I figured they might put you on the spot, so I had someone prepare them in advance."

Alicia's heart fluttered.

How does a man this good end up with anyone—let alone me?

Don't even think about it. It's never going to be you… she warned herself inwardly.

"Reginald, still no news from Nicole?" Across the room, Maddox led Reginald out toward the back garden.

Reginald's gaze hadn't left Alicia since she'd arrived—silent at first, then speaking up. He watched her every move.

"Maddox, don't you think Alicia… reminds you of Margaret?" Reginald whispered.

Maddox paused, glanced back at Alicia, who was still talking to Tyrone. "Yeah, she really does."

"I've never wronged anybody in my life—except Margaret. If I hadn't married her back then, I'd never have had the White family's support, never made it this far…" Reginald's voice was rough with emotion. "But I failed her son, and I couldn't protect our granddaughter. Nicole's still out there somewhere, drifting."

Maddox sighed. "Drifting is better than being gone. As long as Nicole's alive, there's still hope."

Reginald brushed away a tear and nodded. "You're right. As long as she's alive, that's all that matters. When we find her, I'll make it up to her—double."

After dinner at the Lynch estate, Tyrone gave Alicia a little tour.

Tyrone gave her an innocent look. "Well… we'll just have to do our best to make it true. Maybe your next cycle is our lucky chance?"

Alicia's cheeks flushed scarlet. So that's where he was going with this.

How did she end up caught in this kind of trap?

No, Tyrone wasn't that kind of man, was he? She was definitely overthinking things.

"Well… then I guess we'd better get to work tonight," she mumbled.

Tyrone fought back a smile. "Alright."

Alicia, ears burning, hesitated for a long moment before dashing off to the bathroom.

Tonight… was she really about to sleep with Tyrone?
