“How many drinks did you give her mother?” he asks, frowning at me
“Relax, she only had two and the first one she mostly choked on or spit out. You know how your sister is,” she says.
“Are you good to walk?” he asks me.
“Yes,” I say. “Thank you, Alpha Christina. This was very nice.”
“I hope you’ll join us again tomorrow night, Enya. It was nice talking with you as well.”
Christian takes me to my room and waits while I get ready for bed. Then he tucks me into bed and sits beside me. “Are you really okay?”
“I am.”
“Good. Sleep well,” he says, leaning down to kiss my forehead. At the very last minute, I lift my head so his lips press against mine.

Meeting with my father and Shane was great. First, it gave me a chance to let my father get to know Shane better, but the three of us also talked about the concerns of someone intentionally targeting and murdering Alpha Colin.
“If the council hasn’t gotten back to you by Sunday evening, contact Dane and see if he can do anything to expediate this. My guess is they want to double and triple check the information. The murder of an Alpha is not taken lightly and those who are responsible will be punished to the full extent of the law,” my father said.
“Which would be fine, if I wasn’t worried that those murderers are walking around the pack thinking they’ve gotten away with it, possibly putting Shane and Enya at risk,” I say.
“I’m sure the council is confident in your ability to keep the two of them safe,” he says.
I’d still feel better if I didn’t have to keep a constant eye on them, worrying that someone was after them.
I’m not at all surprised when my father approaches the subject of what happened between Shane and Sebastiana. I was, however, a bit surprised when Enya didn’t seem to understand their ridiculous attempt at code earlier this evening. She’s even more innocent than I thought.
“I’m not going to ask you what happened between you and my daughter. I know her well enough to know that when she wants something, she’s goes for it. What I will tell you is that you need to remember that you’re both only sixteen. If it ever gets to a point where you are having sex with her or someone else, you need to use protection. I’d suggest getting it now, if you don’t already have it. The last thing you want is to have a pup when you aren’t prepared for it. Having one is amazing, when the time is right,” he says.
“You’re not mad that I kissed your daughter?” Shane asks him.
Dad and I both laugh. “Shane, if my daughter hadn’t wanted you to kiss her, she’d have put you on your ass. Trust me, my daughter knows how to protect herself.”
