In this standout chapter of the Romance novel When They Beg I Rise (Lemira), Giselle Jones introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
Lemira couldn't help but scroll through the chat history between her and Orion. Everything seemed so normal, so mundane.
She almost wondered if that phone call she received was just a figment of her imagination, a dream she had yet to wake up from.
Lemira tossed and turned in bed, unable to find sleep for nearly the whole night.
She needed to know what exactly was going on between Orion and Sophia.
She remembered that time when Orion was sick and in the hospital, and Sophia had gone out of her way to bring him some homemade chicken soup.
Back then, she thought they were just friends. She even assumed Sophia was closer to Thaddeus, and she hadn’t given it much thought.
But now, in hindsight, something definitely felt off.
Lemira had sensed some hostility from Sophia before, but she chalked it up to issues over Susanna. It never crossed her mind it could be about Orion!
No wonder Orion said such weird things last night at the Little Italy Bistro.
What was he hiding from her?
When dawn finally broke, Lemira got out of bed and went for a jog around the neighborhood. She was too restless to sleep anyway.
Panting and exhausted, she finally stopped and checked her phone. Still no reply from Orion.
She hesitated for a moment, but decided against calling him.
Feeling a bit down, Lemira headed back to her room, took a long shower, changed into fresh clothes, and went downstairs.
The Langston family was already up and bustling around.
Spotting Asher, she demanded, "Where's the money? It's not in my account yet!"
"I'll have my secretary transfer it later," Asher replied casually.
"Do it now, or I can't promise what I might do," Lemira snapped, her temper like a ticking bomb.
Asher noticed her foul mood and knew better than to provoke her any further. Who knew what this fiery girl might do if pushed?
Resigned, Asher pulled out his phone and transferred the money right then and there. "Happy now?" he asked.
Lemira checked her phone, nodded slightly, and began eating in silence.
Just then, Evander and Evelina entered the dining room. Evander spoke up immediately, "Did you hear what I said yesterday? We need that bedroom for our wedding suite!"
