Megan had always known that Diana was not someone to cross. In the past, though, Diana’s methods had been direct and measured. She always left room to retreat.

Before Theodore could question her, Diana inclined her head slightly toward the police.

“One of the Hutton family rules is never to abuse power or bully others. I am simply respecting the police and the law.”

“What sister is she to me?” Diana’s voice rose sharply as father and daughter confronted each other in public. “I only know my mother gave birth to four children. Me, James, Ray, and Vee, who was lost as a child.”

“Oh my God.” Someone gasped among the guests. This time, no one bothered to hide their stares.
