Three months later
"Ms. Devila you are going to be late!" Rex yells from the bottom floor and I flip my sheets over trying to find my phone.
"I-In a second!"
Where the hell is it?
Getting down on all fours, I shoved my head under my bed to find my phone, but it just wasn't there.
"Hmph."
"Ms. Devila, your therapist just called to confirm whether or not you're coming. We should leave."
"Right ... Right okay, let's go. You haven't seen my phone have you?" He outstretches his arms and I take it.
"It's in the fridge downstairs."
"The fridge?" My mouth drops open.
"Yes. I watch you put it in there after we came home from meeting with Mr. Emerald last night."
"And you didn't say anything?" I chuckle as we walk down the stairs and he tilts his head at me.
"Sadly, I've come to find that you are everything but normal Ms. Devila, and there's not much sense to question your ... well, lack of it."
For the second time today, my mouth drops open.
"Woah, Woah, Woah, are you trying to hurt me or something?" I couldn't help but laugh as he chuckles. My phone was indeed in the refrigerator.
"Thanks."
"Glad to be of assistance. Now let's get going."
"You know the drill, I'll be right around the corner, don't leave the building without letting me know ... or at least waiting for me."
I nod before grabbing my bag entering the building.
"Ocean Devila," I tell the new receptionist.
"You're late."
"I'm aware of that," I tell her and she lets out a loud annoyed sound.
I decide not to entertain her much, as my therapist Dr. Mei summons me into her office.
"Would you like to elaborate on why you're late to your session, Ocean."
"I couldn't find my phone," I answer, plopping onto the seat and she takes one on the opposite side of me.
Her long black hair grazed her arms as she looked down at her book.
"Today, we're going to dig deeper."
"How deep?"
"It's been three months Ocean, how long are you going to push this aside?" I take a deep breath. Her eyes move to the bag clutched tightly in my hand.
"I need you to relax ... put own the bag maybe? Lean back, and close your eyes."
I do as she says, minus the closing of eyes, but I stared at the ceiling.
"What are you afraid of Ocean?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you're afraid of opening up, so what scares you so much about it?"
"Isn't everyone to some degree, afraid of opening up?"
"Well, I suppose that's true ... but not everyone has the same reason."
I fidget with my fingers.
"I'm afraid of reopening old wounds."
"Very good."
"So, Who's Dain?"
I clench my jaw.
"You know who he is."
"No, I know about him, I don't know who he is though." I stare at her, lost and she nods.
"Okay, what was he like when he drank?"
I felt a shiver run through me as I gulped.
"H-he was abusive ..."
"What did he do?"
I rolled my eyes. "He did what every abusive person did, he beat me."
"But he didn't just beat you did he? He called you names. What did he call you?"
I looked down at my feet. Pretty white toes, and brown sandals.
"Ocean?" She calls softly, and I squeeze my palms together. "What did he call you?"
"Fat ... ugly ..."
"What else?"
"H-he called me a whore a few times, said I was a witch sent to ruin his life."
"And what else?"
Frustrated, I shut my eyes.
"He told me ... that I would be a terrible mother." My voice broke as I remembered the memory." He said that ... that the worst thing he's ever done was impregnated me. He called the baby and I a mistake-"
Mei looked confused.
"Ocean wait, what baby?"
