"I'm going to go and watch TV or something. Have fun guys." I said winking at Adrian, while he looked even more hurt than before. My heart literally tore- wait, say what? I ran towards the kitchen instead of the TV room. Why was I reacting like this. Popcorn should help. I grabbed a packet and started heating it In the microwave oven.
"You know I'm just going to leave." I heard Adrian say.
"Um but I just got you sugar."
"Not in the mood anymore." He said softly. He sounded hurt from his voice even and I was to blame. I actually felt guilty now.
"Wait wait." She yelled. He was probably getting up, I could hear the sound of the chair being pushed back.
"You know about the huge charity event right around the corner." Lilly said in a rushed tone. Why was she hitting that topic. Despo.
"Yeah I do." He sighed.
"Ofcourse you do, you're probably one of the major donors or sponsors."
The oven went off, indicating that the popcorn was ready.
"Anyways so they choose pretty girls for the auction and I'm going to be one of them."
"Oh. Congratulations." Adrian muttered in a bored tone and I actually wanted to salute him for that.
"Do you know anyone that you're gonna bid on?" Lilly asked in a curious tone. " I mean, you are going to bid right?"
"Yep, it's an obligation for me. I know the host personally and she wants me to bid on someone. And I have no idea who to bid on. I'll just bid on you then."
"You are!!" Lilly screeched.
Damn she was loud, but then again idea shouldn't complain since I chose to eve's drop on their conversation.
"Sure, I mean I don't really know anyone else." He said, his tone void of any emotion.
"Well there is Emily but-"
"Emily is one of those girls!" He yelled.
Like what is his problem, his words made me sound like a slut. Well excuse me.
"Uh yeah."
From his reaction, I could tell that he was dumbfounded. Clearly not used to such a response, but I couldn't care less. He quickly readjusted his expressions giving me a smirk. I moved my eyes away from him and turned on the volume, planning to completely tune him out.
I knew he was saying something but it was too low for me too hear, it's not like it's my fault. Blame the television.
I was too engrossed watching an advertisement that I didn't even notice that he was now standing directly behind me until he bent down and I felt his warm breath on my neck, creating a tickling sensation, causing me to flinch.
"You know what, I might just pick you instead." He whispered into my ear seductively. I could feel my cheeks heat up and goosebumps form on my skin. It took me a while to process what he just said. It made no sense.
Pick me?
My eyes went wide as realization hit me. By the time I turned my face around, he had already reached the door. He gave me a short wave, the grin on his face clearly indicating that he was satisfied by my reaction, and then left.
Well fuck. I hope he wasn't serious.
Emily's POV
You know how the shy and reserved protagonist (yep, the good girl or the nerd) in almost every story dresses decently everyday, unlike the girls surrounding her until she gets invited to an event like a high school party or a business party and snaps out of her comfort zone for that occasion forcefully, due to a friend or just because she feels like it.
Then she dresses up in a short, black dress that reaches just above her knees and hugs her figure perfectly, highlighting her curves, along with 3-4 inch red heels that contrast wonderfully with her bright red lipstick and black smoky eyes.
