Jade's brow furrowed, her guard instantly shooting up.

Brandon cast a cold, detached look at her. "Get in."

"We are right outside a police precinct. One scream and the cops will swarm this car. Are you sure you want to kidnap me here?" Jade scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain.

"I am your father! Why would I hurt you? Look at the state of you! Get in the car!" Brandon snapped, furious that Jade was no longer dancing to his tune. "I hear Clayton let you stay at his place, and Alicia is keeping you on at White Corporation. Well done. I didn't realize you were actually capable."

He swallowed his temper and tried a more persuasive tone. He had written Jade off as a useless, broken pawn. It was a complete shock that she had not only won Alicia's trust to return to the company but also managed to dig her claws into Clayton.

This meant that with a little retraining, Jade could become a highly valuable asset once again.

"Hah... You just didn't realize I still had leverage you could exploit, did you? If I had obediently gone with your men back then, where would I be now? Dead in a ditch somewhere? The way you dispose of your pawns is just trash collection. Father? You don't deserve the title."

Jade's heart was entirely dead to Brandon. No matter what lies he spun, she would never believe him again.

She was tired. So incredibly tired.
