“No, please!”

“Margaret, I made mistakes! For the sake of our years of friendship, please forgive me! I’m begging you…”

Amelia knelt before Margaret, her face pale with fear. “Margaret, I don’t want to become blind. Please, let me go! I’m willing to pay for a perfect pair of corneas for you, to restore your sight!”

Margaret’s lips curled into a gentle smile. Though she couldn’t see, she could almost imagine the terror on Amelia’s face.

She thought back to when Amelia had arrogantly taunted her, and a sense of satisfaction filled her heart.

She smiled faintly. "No, Amelia, I want the corneas in your eyes."

Upon hearing this, William didn't give Amelia a chance to shout any further. He immediately had the bodyguards cover her mouth and take her to the operating room to administer the anesthesia.

Margaret waited outside the operating room.

It turned out that the corneal removal surgery only took about an hour and a half.

"Miss Margaret, the surgery was a complete success."

Margaret smiled. "Thank you, doctor. When will the anesthesia wear off?"

"In about ten minutes, she will wake up."

Margaret thanked him again.

Ten minutes later, she indeed heard Amelia’s painful scream. "Ah! I can't see! My eyes... Margaret, I’m going to kill you, you bitch!"

"Amelia, are you looking for death?"

William shielded Margaret, slapping Amelia hard across the face, his voice cold. "It was you who took Margaret's corneas. She’s just taking back what’s hers. How dare you think such vile thoughts!"

Amelia froze, seemingly not expecting William to be there.

William’s face turned ashen, his heart feeling as though it had been pierced by a sharp blade.

"Take this vile woman to the basement," he ordered. "She doesn't deserve to bear my child!"

The bodyguards immediately obeyed and took Amelia away.

Watching the two of them fight like dogs, Margaret remained silent, but a sense of satisfaction filled her chest.

Once Amelia was taken away, the operating room fell silent.

After a moment, William’s low, restrained voice broke the silence, "Margaret, I will make Amelia pay for the harm she caused you, tenfold. Are you happy now?"

Margaret’s body stiffened, her empty eyes turning toward William’s direction. Her voice dripped with undisguised disdain as she coldly said, "I’m happy, but William, the person I hate most isn’t Amelia."

William’s heart felt as though it had been stabbed by a poisoned needle. He swallowed hard, and his thin lips twisted into a slightly twisted smile. "Margaret, time will heal all hatred. We’ll reconcile in the end."
