The next day. Hansen Cedillo wasn't feeling well, so he stayed home. Everyone else went out.
Grandma Aubree and Grandpa Elmer originally wanted to go, but upon hearing Hansen wasn't going, the two elders decided to stay behind just as they were about to leave.
Kendrick dropped his parents off at the Cedillo family home to keep Hansen company.
They happened to leave at the same time as Bruce Cedillo and his wife. As Molly headed out, she yelled, "Mia, I've got my sunglasses, you grab that tan scarf, it'll look great in photos."
Mia opened her bedroom door. The walls weren't soundproof, so she just yelled back to her best friend, "I left that scarf at Maplewood Estates. I only have a shawl here, but it matches just fine."
Molly shouted back, "Let's ask Anya. That walking treasure chest always packs everything perfectly."
Over at Waterford Estates, the 'treasure chest' had been up before dawn, preparing food.
Leo woke up. Feeling the empty space beside him on the bed, he shot up abruptly. "Ms. Anya? Anya!"
"Leo, I'm in the kitchen!" Anya's soft, sweet voice called out, finally settling Leo's racing heart.
Leo walked out of the room. He watched the young girl in her plush sleep dress, sleeves rolled up to reveal her fair arms, bustling about. She opened the top cabinets, then the bottom ones.
She took out the meat Chunky had brought over yesterday from the fridge and went back into the kitchen. "Anya, you went to bed so late last night, aren't you tired? What are you busy with now?"
Anya bent down to take small pastries out of the oven. "I'm making snacks for our trip."
Leo leaned against the doorframe. "We can just buy lunch when we get there."
