Mars pitched the tent, chopped firewood, hauled water, and built the fire.
Milka sat on a small folding stool, working through her study questions. By the time she finished a practice test, Mars had completed all the manual labor. Rolling up her sleeves, Milka went over to scoop out some water and prep the ingredients. "Hang up the lanterns."
"I can't do that. If I hang a light and we're inside the tent tonight... Ouch! Okay, okay, I'll hang them!"
After surviving one night in the wilderness, Milka swore she would never go camping with her husband again.
As Mars drove them back, he stubbornly kept his right hand interlocked with hers. "Milka, next time my unit goes on a training exercise and I find a nice spot, I'll take you camping there."
Milka immediately yanked her hand away.
Mars, refusing to be deterred, shamelessly rested his hand on her thigh, lightly caressing her.
Milka swatted him away again. "What are you doing?!" "I have a legal right to touch my wife's leg! I'm protected by law!" Mars fired back.
Milka glared at him. "...You jerk. You used to act like a normal human being, but now you act like a ravenous beast."
Mars suddenly pulled the car over halfway down the mountain road. He parked, turned, and locked his predatory gaze on his wife, looking ready to devour her on the spot. "I've always been a beast. I was just pretending to be human."
Before he had married her, surrounded by military grit day in and day out, his blood ran hot. How could he not constantly crave the warmth of her touch? But Milka had been raised with strict boundaries, firmly believing in waiting until marriage. So, Mars had held back, agonizingly enduring the wait.
But now? Now he came home to her every single day. He was absolutely going to claim back everything he had suppressed—with interest.
"Give me six sons."
"The number went up again?"
"Plus a little girl," Mars added.
The couple spent the rest of the drive excitedly mapping out their future and eventually arrived back home.
The moment they walked in, Jupiter was pacing frantically. "Milka, please talk some sense into your mother. Stop her from driving herself crazy. She's going to be a grandmother soon. She should be relaxing and preparing to spoil the baby. Instead, she's talking about 'business revolutions.' She stays up reading textbooks until her vision blurs."
