It sucks having to wake him up way earlier than I need to, but in order to make sure he's safe, I need to. When he opens his little eyes, sleep still in his senses, he smiles seeing it's me. I help him sit up and turn on his light.
"Hey Bud, go brush your teeth and potty. It's almost one for school." He perks up immediately hearing it's almost time for school and quickly rushes to do what I've said. I wish I was that enthusiastic about school.
I absolutely hate school but oddly enough, I don't absolutely dread the thought of it today. I'm actually looking forward to going a little bit.
In the kitchen once more, I fix Marcus's food for him and set it in the living room. Turning back to the counter, I quickly put two waffles on a small plate, add a fork to it and then put some syrup on top of them.
Heading back into Ben's room, he's sitting on his bed, still in his PJ's.
I set the plate on his desk and go to his closet to pick out his clothes. Getting the nicest shirt and pants I could find for him, I call him over to me and tell him to lift his arms.
Slipping the shirt over his head, I button one of the buttons at the top and move on to his pants, letting him take off his pajama pants first. After buttoning those and making sure they're comfortable on him, I let him go eat. When he's full, he still has about three-quarters of a waffle left. "Here Sissy, I'm done."
Smiling at him, I eat the leftovers quickly. Now looking at his small clock, I see that we have to leave now. Putting his jacket on him, and getting mine, we head out into the living room.
Sitting on the couch eating his waffles is Marcus. He doesn't even look up when we enter, so I keep my head down and keep walking towards the door.
When I'm about a step away from opening the door and being free for now, Marcus speaks up. "The waffles were good. You're lucky she taught you how to cook when you were smaller. Otherwise it wouldn't be pretty for you."
I just nod at him, not wanting to look up to know if he'll see it or not, and pick up Ben and I's school bags.
Finally getting out the door, I release some of the pressure I was putting on Ben's hand, poor kid, and take a deep breath, walking to school with my little brother in peace.
He looked up at me, smiled a little and then looked back down.
The light blue pen I was using makes the eye I drew look amazing. The black outlines of the eyelid, black streaks forming the thick eyelashes, then there's the blue streaks forming the eye itself. Now that I'm looking at it as a drawing and not just a doodle, I decided I wanted to actually draw a face with it. I'll just have to finish it when I have more time, since the teacher just walked in.
Jordi, giving me one last compliment on my drawing, turns towards the front board with a smile gracing his face.
Actually looking at him now, I mean really looking at him, I realize how attractive he really is. His dark brown hair is styled to make it look like he just rolled out of bed and his jaw line is sharp. His pink lips are full and look really soft.
Hearing a throat clear from in front of the class, I see the teacher making his way towards me with papers in his hands. When he reaches my desk he bends down and starts talking.
"Okay Layla. This is the assignment we've been working on for a few days now. It's not due until next Friday, so you have plenty of time to catch up. Now, all of this is explaining what to do. You have to write an essay about something or someone that has made an impact on your life. Wether it was something you saw in a movie, on the streets, or something or someone that has been in your personal life. Explain how they impacted you and if it was in a good way or bad way. The maximum pages I want for this is six while the minimum is three. It'd be nice if you could also get a prop of some sort to help while presenting next Friday. If you have any questions, just come ask. I'll let you get to work."
