I sighed and tubbed my forehead. "Liam. You'll see her tomorrow. I have to get back to the Konane pack before Briar goes to sleep and so does Evie." Liam nodded and gave Evie one last kiss before letting her go.
When we got to the Konane Pack, I told Evie not to tell Alpha Stone that she's leaving until after dinner tonight.
"Okay. I understand." She and I walked into my mate's house and into the kitchen to join everyone for dinner.
We all chatted and had a lot of good laughs. While that was going on, Koda tried to break down the barrier because he couldn't handle it.
-I need our mate-
-Koda, we can't mark her until she's ready and you know that-
-I know but, she's just so beautiful and tempting. She's addicting-
-I know, I know and I'm sorry. Just it's hard enough for her to trust guys, I don't want to mess this up. I can't imagine being rejected by our mate as perfect as she is-
-you did a good job on the date today-
-thanks. I was praying it would be a success-
-same. You're being summoned-
I snapped out of my trance to be met with Briar's hand in my arm.
"You okay?" She asked me looking into my eyes.
I nodded. "I'm perfect." I smiled at her and she sent one back.
After dinner, I had hung out with her family and friends, giving them the meet and greet, downstairs while Briar went up to take a shower. When I finished with her family and friends, I followed Briar's scent into her room. Hearing that the shower was on, I decided to take a quick one and then hop into my bed to wait for her.
When I came out in black sweats, towel drying my hair, I saw that Briar had curled herself up in the King sized bed waiting for me to get back.
"Chase, I have to go brush out my hair and put some pajama pants on before we go down. Your shirt only covers so much." I smiled.
"I knew that was my shirt." He whispered more to himself as if he just proved a point. I kissed his cheek and climbed out of the bed. walking across the hall and into my bathroom, a note was taped to my mirror. Pulling it off, i read it.
Dear Bri,
I'm so sorry but I'm going miss breakfast and your goodbye cook out. My "dad" (Alpha Clifford, remember i took my my mom's real mate's last name) needed my help severly with his pack. I don't know when I'll get back but I wanted to let you know that I'm terribly sorry for missing this. I will visit you soon in your new pack.
XOXO,
Evie
I read over it again hoping I read it wrong. My best friend is missing my goodbye party? She knows how important this is to me. But I can't blame her because she's helping her "dad" with something. I'll try to meet up with her later.
