By the time the plane touched down, it was already eight in the evening. Jackson and Adonis were hanging out by the airport entrance, slouching against a flashy sports car, cigarettes hanging from their lips as they stared at the exit, looking like they’d been bored for hours.
It didn’t take long for a man and a woman to walk out, both bundled up and carrying a certain intimidating energy. Instantly, Jackson and Adonis straightened up, all casualness gone.
“Charlotte, Anthony.”
Charlotte caught the smell of smoke and immediately frowned, clearly not pleased.

“Since when do I need your approval to make decisions?” Charlotte replied, already sounding impatient. “Are you leaving or what?”
“…Okay.” Adonis replied, looking pitiful, rubbing the back of his head as he shuffled off to the other car, still full of confusion.
Charlotte turned her attention to Jackson.
He tensed up right away, so nervous he could barely hide it.
Thankfully, the uneasy feeling in Charlotte’s stomach faded.
After a couple seconds, she looked away and said quietly, “Let’s go.”
“Yes.” Jackson’s legs were shaking as he slipped into the driver’s seat. He risked a glance at the back seat, sweat beading on his forehead. Since the engagement party, he was sure Charlotte had been different, her moods unpredictable. Honestly, it was terrifying.
