My wife and I were stunned. We thought they were just drunk and speaking nonsense.

My wife kindly tried to help them up. But Ashley pushed her away.

They stared directly at me. "We won't get up unless you agree," they said.

My daughter was so scared. She hid behind me and didn't dare to come out.

I finally couldn't take it anymore. "We kindly invited you to join us for the festival. You want me to marry my daughter to your son? Are you crazy? She's only eight!"

Gavin shakily took out a card from his pocket. "There's thirty thousand dollars in here. Consider it a bride price. Anyway, your girl will have to marry someday. She might as well marry Victor. We know each other well."

Victor stared blankly at my daughter. Then he suddenly grinned.

He was already fat. When he smiled, his flesh bunched up, making the pimples on his face more pronounced. He showed a mouthful of yellow teeth. "I'll be good to Jane," he said.

"Damn. Who the hell are you? Jane doesn't need your so-called kindness," I said.

Victor dragged his heavy body over. He struggled to reach out for my daughter's hand.

I couldn't take it anymore. I rushed over and punched him.

Ashley screamed. She pulled her son into her arms, rubbing his face while crying. "My son is disabled! How could you hit him? We're calling the police," she said.

Gavin chimed in, "Or we don't call the police. Just marry Jane to my son."
