Felicia paused for a moment, then said, “That’s okay. I’ve already got somewhere to stay.”

Max didn’t give her any room to argue. “Anne’s going to another city. I can’t let her stay anywhere else. She needs bodyguards and a nanny with her.”

Felicia stared at him, her face growing serious. She didn’t argue back. Instead, she just turned and got in the car.

Anne waved goodbye to her dad.

Tommy drove them off, with the bodyguards’ car following right behind.

At the airport, Anthony, Heather, and Yara were already waiting for them.

Anthony glanced at the bodyguards and nannies trailing behind and grinned. “Is Max worried you’ll kidnap Anne or something?”

Felicia didn’t want to get into it. “Let’s just go.”

Two hours later, their plane landed in Northwick.

Felicia had planned to stay with Heather and the girls. But with the bodyguards and nanny tagging along, she didn’t really have a choice. She had to go to the place Max arranged.

Heather didn’t mind. “It’s fine. If you’re busy during the day, just drop Anne off with me.”

Felicia nodded.

Anthony went straight to the Northwick branch office. “Get Anne settled first, then come over.”

“Okay, will do.”

Felicia and Anne got into Max’s car.

Heather and Yara had some things to do, so they couldn’t take Anne with them just yet.

Crestwood Estates was one of Northwick’s top three luxury neighborhoods. It’s surrounded by hills and rivers, and the scenery was stunning. The Rolls-Royce pulled up to one of the villas, and the butler was already waiting at the door.

Anne had fallen asleep in the car, so Felicia scooped her up and carried her inside. The bedrooms were all ready.

Felicia took Anne upstairs, and when Anne woke up, they had lunch together.

“I have to work this afternoon. Will you stay here and be good?”

Anne nodded sweetly. “I will. I’ll wait for you to come home.”

Once Anne was settled, Felicia left the villa.

They didn’t talk much longer before hanging up.

Right after she ended the call, Anthony called to say she didn’t need to come to the office and should head straight to IronGate Industries instead.

“Okay.”

Half an hour later, Felicia got out of the car.

She looked up at the towering buildings right in the heart of the city. IronGate Industries was even more impressive in person, clearly the top dog in Northwick.

As she walked toward the lobby, a brand-new Rolls-Royce pulled up out front. The door opened and a tall man stepped out, all confidence and quiet power.

“Mr. Foxhall.”

A group of executives bowed respectfully.

He didn’t have to say a word. Just by standing there, he commanded the whole scene.

It was nothing like when she’d met him back in the Capital.

His presence here made it clear just how important he was at IronGate Industries.
