Naylor knew he had caused a massive disaster and had been on edge for days.

He wanted to call Katrina but was terrified of angering her further. Instead, he relied on Ivy to subtly feed him updates every day.

When his phone suddenly rang with Katrina's name, he nearly jumped out of his skin. He was both thrilled and terrified, paralyzed by the fear that something had happened to her mother and she was calling to scream at him.

If that were the case, they were completely and utterly finished.

He hesitated nervously for a few seconds before answering. However, Katrina immediately cut to the chase. "Are you free right now? If you are, come to the hospital."

Naylor shot up from his chair, his heart hammering against his ribs as he gripped the phone. "How is... how is Willa doing?" he asked cautiously.

"She's out of the ICU."

"That's a relief..." He let out a massive breath, but confusion quickly followed. "Then why do you need me to—"

"I asked you to come because there's something we need to discuss. If it's inconvenient, forget it." Katrina had no patience to explain, clearly ready to hang up.

Naylor immediately scrambled to agree. "I'll be there! Of course, I'll be there! I'd walk through fire for you!"

"Psycho," Katrina muttered under her breath and ended the call.

Naylor had barely been able to focus on work anyway. After that call, he sprinted out of his office like a man possessed, nearly giving his assistant a heart attack as she walked in to give a report.

"Mr. Wilson, aren't you going to review these spreadsheets?"

"Leave them on my desk!" Naylor's voice echoed back from the elevator.

As he sped toward the hospital, Naylor's stomach churned with anxiety.

After a moment of thought, he couldn't resist calling his best friend.

Jamison rolled his eyes the second he saw the caller ID. He didn't even need to answer to know what this was about, and he felt nothing but disdain.

It was just a woman, for crying out loud...

She had turned Naylor into an absolute wreck. He was impatient, erratic, and jumping at shadows. Jamison had no idea where all of Naylor's extensive dating experience had vanished to. It was honestly embarrassing.

Jamison conveniently forgot that ever since he got married, he had practically turned into a devoted house husband who worshipped the ground his wife walked on.

Jamison let the phone ring for a few seconds before answering. "What now?" he asked dryly.

Naylor snapped, "What are you doing? Why did it take you so long to pick up?"

Jamison shot back, annoyed, "I'm a doctor. I'm saving lives. What do you think I'm doing?"

"Forget it, forget it. I need to ask you something. Katrina just called and told me to get to the hospital. What do you think it's about?"

"..." Jamison's expression soured, his finger hovering over the end-call button. "Why don't you ask her? Why are you asking me?"

"If I had the guts to ask her, would I be calling you? Hurry up and ask your wife. They're best friends; she might know something."
