If it hadn't been for a recent singing reality show where a contestant covered the artist's biggest hit, bringing his entire discography back into the spotlight, she probably wouldn't have even known the song.

Seeing Naylor's sour expression, Katrina quickly tried to coax him. "But a lot of old songs are classics. It's a really great song. I heard quite a few people humming along earlier."

"What about you? Were you humming along?"

Katrina froze. "Me?"

She had been entirely too swept up in his romantic charm to even think about humming along.

But she definitely couldn't admit that out loud.

"I was too hungry. I was focused on eating." A stroke of brilliance hit her, and she quickly changed the subject.

"..." Naylor was so frustrated he wanted to flip the table. "Eat, eat, eat. Were you starved in a past life?"

Now Katrina was annoyed. "You were the one who said you were hungry and dragged us out to eat, and now you're giving me a hard time about it?"

Naylor let out a heavy sigh, utterly defeated.

He had to admit he was being impatient. He was losing his composure.

He had assumed his impulsive, romantic gesture would move her to tears, breaking the stagnant deadlock their relationship had been stuck in lately.

But this woman was an impenetrable fortress. She was completely unfazed.

He was furious, but he couldn't bear to take it out on her, so he just picked up his silverware and ate in moody silence.

Watching him aggressively shovel food into his mouth, Katrina was genuinely surprised. "Are you... not afraid of the spice?"

Seeing how stubborn he was being, Katrina decided to drop it and went back to her own meal.

"And here I thought you actually had a high spice tolerance," she muttered, quickly waving down a server. "Could I get a carton of whole milk, please?"

The server promptly returned with the milk.

Katrina popped the tab, slid the straw in, and handed it to him. "Water won't help. You need to drink this."

Naylor's face was flushed crimson, and he was sweating profusely. He frowned. "I don't like plain milk."

"But it neutralizes the spice. It works better than anything."
