He whipped around to see two nurses stepping out, each cradling a tightly wrapped bundle.

"Dr. Ludwig, congratulations! Two healthy baby boys!"

Jamison barely processed the words. He lunged forward and demanded, "What about my wife? How is she?!"

"She's perfectly fine. The surgeons are just finishing up the sutures. She'll be brought out to recovery once the anesthesia wears off a bit."

Before the nurse could even finish her sentence, Jamison pushed past them with a dark, frantic expression, storming toward the operating room. The nurses froze in shock before one called out, "Dr. Ludwig, wait! You haven't even looked at your babies! At least take a glance at them!"

But Jamison couldn't have cared less. His entire heart and soul were locked on his wife.

The nurses shook their heads and were just about to carry the newborns back into the operating room when a chaotic flurry of footsteps echoed down the hallway.

Danny Ludwig, who usually walked at a slow, measured pace with his cane, was practically sprinting down the corridor. "Where are they?! Are those my grandsons? Let me see them!"

The nurses immediately recognized the prominent figures and gasped. "Mr. Ludwig! Adela! Please slow down, don't trip!"

But the older couple refused to slow their pace. Supported by their butler and aides, they rushed over, their eyes shining with absolute ecstatic joy as they gazed at the infants.

"Are they boys or girls?!"

"Two boys. This is the older brother, and this is the younger."

"Oh, marvelous! Just marvelous! Look how handsome they are! So vibrant and alert!" The proud grandparents marveled over the newborns as if they were priceless crown jewels.

Further down the hall, the previously indifferent family watched the scene unfold with naked envy. "Must be nice," the older woman muttered bitterly. "Popping out two boys at once. Who knows what your wife is gonna spit out..."

The young man didn't even glance up from his screen. "What's there to be jealous of? Having sons is just a massive financial burden. I don't want them! Can't you see those people are loaded?"

The older couple rolled their eyes at his retort, thoroughly annoyed.

Meanwhile, Danny and Adela carefully took their long-awaited grandsons from the nurses, their faces splitting into euphoric grins.

"Oh my goodness, look at them! They look exactly like Jamison did as a baby!"

"I think they're even better looking than he was."

"Who cares! As long as they're healthy, that's all that matters!"

Adela and Danny each held a baby, endlessly admiring the child in their own arms before leaning over to coo at the other.

The butler and the aides hovered anxiously nearby, offering their congratulations while making sure the elderly couple didn't drop the infants.

"Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig, we just brought the babies out for a quick greeting. We need to take them back now for a more thorough examination and to give them some skin-to-skin contact with their mother. They'll be brought out together with her shortly," the nurses finally interjected politely after letting them have their moment.

Without even opening her eyes, the familiar warmth of his touch washed over her, and her tense features finally relaxed.

"Ivy... you did so incredibly well," Jamison murmured.

He traced the curve of her cheek, his voice thick with raw devotion and lingering terror.

Ivy kept her eyes shut, her lips barely moving as she managed a raspy whisper. "Did you... did you see the babies?"

"No. My parents are here; they're outside watching them," Jamison answered dismissively. Right as the words left his mouth, the two nurses hurried back into the room, carrying the newborns.

And both little guys were screaming at the top of their lungs.

"They're throwing a bit of a fit! Here, Dad, why don't you hold them and try to calm them down?" the nurse offered warmly, walking straight toward Jamison with the crying bundles.

But the brand-new father had absolutely zero interest in soothing them.

Before the nurse even got close, Jamison ordered without so much as glancing over his shoulder, "Just proceed with the rest of their medical evaluations."

The nurses were left entirely speechless.

Exchanging a knowing look, they remembered just how intensely devoted Jamison was to his wife and realized pushing the issue was pointless. They shook their heads and carried the wailing infants over to the examination table, cooing softly, "Don't be mad at Daddy, little ones! Daddy is busy taking care of Mommy right now, so we'll just have to cuddle you instead!"
