I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth, fix my hair and pee. I left my sweats on. There was no way I was going out today. The snow stopped but there was just so much of it.
"I finally get to meet him!" She was so excited. "And I'm guessing that this is mine." She pointed to a big gift wrapped box. I only nodded my head while pouring myself a cup of coffee. I wasn't a fan of it, but I did like the caffeine. Jade made me make her hot chocolate with marshmallows. "How are you not excited?" She asked.
"I am excited, but I'm also tired. It's only eight o'clock."
"So are you going to give him the gift?" She asked with a huge smile.
I shook my head. "You can give it to Luke if you want."
"No. I think he's more of a superman kind of guy."
We drank our drinks before opening up the presents. Jade went first. I think I saw her eyes roll into the back of her head when she saw the shoes. "Oh my god I love you so much right now." Were those tears? She threw her arms around my neck, and gave me the most strangled hug I've ever gotten.
"You're going to kill me." I gasped.
"I don't care!" She let go. "You really didn't need to get me these."
I shrugged my shoulders. "Well I did. Now it's my turn." She handed me a pink gift bag. I opened it up, took out the tissue paper and pulled out a dark red purse. My smile was so big that it almost split my face in half. I remember walking through the mall one day, a few months ago actually, and we both drooled over it from behind the glass window. "Ok now it's my turn to strangle you." She screamed as I came at her with wide arms.
There was a knock on the door and jade bolted to it. "Hello." Dante looked confused.
"Hi." Jade was smiling at him, then she turned her head to me and mouthed, oh my god.
"Would it be okay if Sean came over later?" He asked, taking my hand in his and pulling me to his chest. I nodded my head yes. "He's being forced to go over to his aunts house first. Family, am I right?"
"My family sucks." Jade chimed in.
Dante laughed and chanted, "Mine does too!"
I laughed. "Me three. But Sean's parents seemed nice."
"Stop being so sweet." I kissed his stubbly cheek.
"Oh I have one more thing for you!" He pulled out his wallet and handed me a gift card to a Waffle House. "It's a hole in the wall but they sell the best waffles I've ever had."
"That's like the perfect gift you could get her." Jade laughed. "That place is amazing."
"I have something for you too." I got up and took his gift out from under the tiny tree. My wrapping job sucked but at least I tried.
He ripped it open almost as quickly as Jade tore off the wrapping paper of her gift and burst into a fit of laughter. "Ah, I see you accepted the fact that coffee holds a very special place in my heart. Too bad, I was looking forward to see how you would attempt to take his place."
The cat woman costume was how.
We all sat around the little bar in the kitchen and spent the majority of the day talking and eating room service. My friend and boyfriend finally found common ground which turned out to be me and my lack of coordination. "Sky, remember that time we were at your grandmothers funeral and in the middle of your mom's speech thing you tripped and fell on the casket?"
"Yeah, that wasn't funny, do you know how much shit I got for that. They all thought I did it on purpose. And you laughing in the background didn't help."
