I nodded my head yes.

Angela knew where everything was. Apparently I wasn't supposed to know that she was here, so she left my room. We needed to get out of the house. After that we'd have to run and run until we reached safety, even if that was two or three miles. It was a matter of life and death. I wanted to live.

Later that night Angela returned. Nick hadn't came back to my room all day which I found odd. Not once did anyone check on me. What if I killed myself? They had no idea.

We planned to leave at night. We'd be less visible to them. This was a ridiculous plan, but I didn't know what else to do. No one knew where I was. What if by the time they realized it was too late?

"There's a door in the basement. It leads outside. No one is really on watch there. The most we'd find is Dan." Angela explained, as she handed me a gun. It felt weirdly familiar. That scared me. It terrified me.

"Who's Dan?" I asked her.

"Just some other guy who's in here. He's Nick's best friend. There's only a couple of people in this house. The problem is that they are smart, skilled, and strong. We're not as good as them, and we're outnumbered."

"And if Dan is there, what do we do?" I wondered. My palms were sweating and my heart was pounding out of my chest.

"I'll take care of him." Was all she said. "I owe you this." We very quietly made our way out of the room and down the hall. "Skyla," She whispered. "Whatever happens tonight, let's keep it between us." I nodded. Who knows what we were going to have to do. No one needed to know.

Lucky for us there were five men all in one room, surrounded by empty bottles and cans. They were completely wasted.

She lead me down the narrow hallway that lead to a door. It was a dead end. Dan stood at the end. Of course. Of course this couldn't be easy.

He didn't see us at first. It was dark, and his eyes were half closed. This was the man who hit me, and shot me. I felt no remorse. He deserved what he was about to get. I knew what he was about to get based on the way Angela was looking at him.

This is what I have become. These people turned me into a monster.

"Skyla?" I heard someone say. It was a dream. It must've been a dream. "Skyla, look at me." I heard again. His voice was soft and gentle. I sighed. A feeling of safety washed over me.

His big hands gently touched the part of my head that was throbbing in pain. "Baby, you need to get up. Open your eyes." He begged.

I wanted to make him happy. I didn't like when Dante was hurt, but Dante couldn't have been here. How would he know where to find me? It was only a dream. "Skyla." He said again, a little louder this time.

This dream was a tease. I wanted Dante to help me, but I couldn't believe that he was here with me. I opened my eyes struggling to break free from it.

But there he was, looking down at me. I blinked a few times, but he was still there.

His face was very scruffy, like he hasn't shaved in awhile. I poked his cheek with my finger. He was here. It was real.
