"David, you're not off yet?" a colleague asked.

"Oh, I'm still working on some data. I'll leave when I'm done," I lied.

After work, my coworkers trickled out one by one. I pretended to focus on my keyboard, but all my attention was on Grace's office.

When I saw the doorknob turn, I quickly redirected my focus to the screen, my fingers flying across the keyboard.

A tall figure approached me and pressed the off button with her slender fingers. "Stop pretending. Let's go."

I chuckled and scratched my head. Then, I gathered my things and followed Grace outside.
