"It is not your fault." I stood up, releasing Chase's hand for a moment. "Thank you for helping them." I hugged him. "Was anyone else harmed?"

"Only the Alpha and Beta passed. Everything else is very minor. They were brought to their own homes. Only some scratches and maybe a few broken bones. Nothing deadly, I swear." I nodded my head. "Okay, everyone go home and get some rest." I hollered to everyone.

Everyone said goodbyes and left or retreated to their room. I sat down next to Chase. "He will be okay..." The man told me. He took a seat on a chair next to the unlit fireplace. "I'm Tucker by the way. The new Beta..." He said the last part grimly. We were all grieving. I could feel the pain in his voice.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Lexi." I forced smiled from my seat on the floor, I appreciated him staying with me. He probably didn't want to leave Chase unprotected. But at the same time, I didn't want to make conversation right now.

"This might be weird, but can I stay the night?" He asked. "I know how much Chase loves you, and I don't think he would want you in a home with no protection." So my assumption was almost correct. He was kind.

"Thank you. And of course." I smiled at him. "So are you still in high school?" I questioned.

"Nope. First year of college."

"Then why in the world did you call me ma'am?"

"We'll you will probably be our next Luna. So I should show you respect." He responded, not missing a beat.

"No. No more ma'am! You're older than me! I should call you sir!" I argued. He just laughed lightly, shaking his head.

His eyes found Chase's still body again and his expression dropped. He think flitted his eyes over to Connor, and his expression grew even darker. His face held so much pain and emotion I felt like I was intruding on something personal. I quickly averted my gaze, feeling bad for watching his grief.

"Good night Lexi." And with that he walked to the nearest guest room. I looked down at Chase's face. The moon light shined off his skin. I rubbed my thumb along his small trail of freckled along his cheek.

"I love you." I whispered to him, before laying my head down on the couch next to him. "Please be okay..." I whispered to him. Glaring down at the bandage over his chest, wishing it would just disappear.

MISTAKES!

Alex's POV

I laid on my bed, staring at the ceiling. Just trying to fall asleep, and failing. When panic clouded my mind. Fear filled my head. I couldn't keep still. What the hell?

And just like that it eased away, going back to a nagging worried feeling.

"This is gonna be a long night..." I muttered shaking my head, before chugging down more vodka.

I sat up on my bed, in my dark room. The bottle of vodka was now empty, but the feeling wasn't gone. A constant reminder that I'm cursed to be liked with her. I growled out in anger. I felt so angry. My emotions were a wreck switching back and forth between my own anger and my wolfs worry.

I growled again, hurling the empty glass bottle against the wall. The shattering sound echoed through the empty house, but it didn't relieve any of my anger.

I growled again, gripping my hair in my fingers. I didn't know how to handle this.

Lexi's POV

My eyes fluttered open, to the simi-lit living room. I turned to the other sofa to see someone had removed Connor's body. I turned back to the still motionless Chase.

"Chase.... Chase... Please wake up..." I tried to shake him gently. "Chase come on this isn't funny. Get up." I knew he wouldn't make a joke out of this. Nothing about this was funny. I was more scared than I had ever been in my whole life. I couldn't lose him. He was the most important thing in the whole world.
