Adelaide knew exactly what Camilla was doing. She was stirring the pot, throwing shade at Lycan Erasmus for neglecting her as his primary mate.

Adelaide raised her glass and gave a textbook–perfect response.

“Lycan Erasmus and Lycan Luna Clarissa are the ultimate soulmates. The rest of us are just doing our best to mimic the kind of love you two have.”

Camilla’s face went stiff as she forced a thin smile. She didn’t push it.

The room broke into a chorus of toasts, everyone congratulating Lycan Erasmus and Tracy.

Lycan Erasmus set his glass down and said with a dry smile, “Everyone, relax. Let’s not make this a formal hearing.”

But every high–ranking wolf in the room could feel the aura coming off him. He was low–key pissed.

Clarissa, watching from the head of the table, just shook her head. “Must be nice to be that oblivious,” she thought.

Aldrich turned to Germain. “By the way, Germain, how’s Pandora doing? Any improvement?”

Germain put down his silverware and gave a respectful nod. “Thanks for asking, sir. My mother’s doing a lot better.”

Aldrich nodded, a sharp glint in his clouded eyes.

“Good. You’ve been putting in the work, taking care of her day in and day out. I’m just now realizing what a family–oriented Alpha you are.”

It sounded like a compliment, but his tone felt… off. It made people uneasy.

Even Adelaide took a second look at the exchange.
