Third Person’s POV
This move clearly sent a political signal to everyone in the palace. Adelaide hesitated for a moment, took a step forward, and persuaded.
“How about I just take him back to the pack directly after lunch?”
“No need.” Lycan Clarrisa decisively waved her hand, a hint of anger and iron–willed resolve surfacing between her brows.
She shot Adelaide a cold glance, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“You all will go back now; there is no need to stay for lunch. If I remember correctly, Lycan Erasmus should be coming to have lunch with me today.”
Inside the study, Lycan Erasmus’s face instantly turned livid after hearing Fabian’s detailed
report.
He slammed his hand on the desk, a furious, low growl tearing from his throat. The lycan aura suddenly expanded outward along with his sheer rage, “That damn bastard!”
Standing to the side, feeling the somewhat out–of–control top–tier aura in the air, Fabian slightly lowered his head, his tone respectful.
“Lycan Erasmus, Lycan Clarrisa has already told Lance and the others to leave. She publicly stated she was keeping Cedric for lunch alone and would send him back to the pack tonight.”
Lycan Erasmus irritably tugged at his collar, taking a deep breath to try and suppress his wolf’s tyrannical emotions. He ordered in a deep voice.
“Go to the central kitchen yourself and have the head chef prepare a few of her favorite dishes. I am going over there right now to have lunch with her.”
“Yes, sir!”
“Also,” a flash of ruthless gloom crossed Lycan Erasmus’s eyes as he coldly added, “Have Ulrik take that idiot Nolan to the Moon Goddess Temple and make him kneel before the goddess’s statue to reflect on his actions! Furthermore, have Ulrik recite every single bloody battle and casualty statistic the Shadowfangs has ever suffered, word for word, to him. In a few days, I will personally test him on it. If he gets a single word wrong, I will not only punish him, but I will also punish his mother.”

Fabian secretly breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. He felt this punishment was absolutely satisfying, especially making Ulrik carry out the task.
After Fabian respectfully took his leave, Lycan Erasmus looked at the mountain of classified documents piled on his desk. He instantly felt utterly frustrated and couldn’t focus on a single word.
Over the past two years, the officials‘ demands for him to confirm an heir had been growing
louder.
In the werewolf world where the strong prey on the weak, the battle for the heir’s position had always been bloody and brutal.
The alphas of the major packs in the capital, the mothers of the pups in the palace, and the commanders guarding the borders–every faction hoped the prince they secretly supported would become the future king.
However, according to werewolf tradition, most kings usually appointed their first child or the first child born to the luna as the heir.
Currently, Nolan perfectly met both of these criteria. On a level of noble status, it made it impossible for the other princes to even be compared to him.
If nothing unexpected happened, the position of the next lycan king undeniably belonged to him.
Over the past year, Camilla and the Wall family behind her had tested the king countless times, yet Lycan Erasmus had never given a clear stance.
Because in his eyes, whether in terms of combat talent, leadership ability, or personal charisma, Nolan was completely unsuited to be the king ruling over the entire Northern Kingdom.
If the entire country were handed over to him in the future, Lycan Erasmus couldn’t even fathom what the country would devolve into under Nolan’s command.
What Lycan Erasmus felt thankful for was that he was still young. He could use his iron–fisted political tactics to suppress the factions fighting in the dark.
As the ruler of a nation, he was thinking about not just current stability, but long–term future prosperity.
It was rare that the Moon Goddess mercifully granted him an eldest prince, but to find out in the end that he was a child of mediocre aptitude gave him a tremendous sense of defeat. He once questioned why Nolan hadn’t inherited any of his outstanding abilities.
