Chapter 896

Third Person’s POV

Besides, if she really got expelled, it would bring shame to the entire Styxwarden Pack, and she would likely be cast out of the pack altogether.

For the three she-wolves, that was the longest hour of their lives.

When Valerie finally called time, they immediately ran to the shade of the trees, collapsing on the ground.

They exchanged glances, their pheromones turning sour and metallic with raw anger. They were sure this incident would make them a laughingstock among their classmates, and they couldn’t let that happen.

So they decided to strike first by taking the matter straight to Lena.

In the entire academy, Lena was the only instructor they truly respected. In class, Lena often introduced them to the customs and traditions of different regions across the Northern Kingdom. Her lessons were vivid and engaging-things these she-wolves, who had spent their entire lives inside the pack, had never heard before.

They were confident that Lena would take their side. First, she was gentle and kind-she would feel bad for what they’d been through. Second, she was of noble birth and would surely see an assault by a mere servant someone beneath even an Omega-as an unacceptable breach of werewolf hierarchy.

Inside the office, Lena listened patiently to Laila’s complaint.

The gentle smile on her face slowly faded.

“So… you think the headmistress was wrong to punish you?” she asked.

Laila froze, clearly caught off guard by Lena’s reaction.

“N-no… that’s not what we mean,” she blurted out.

“We just think that even the headmistress shouldn’t be allowed to humiliate students however she wants.”

Lena’s face darkened, and her suffocating aura slowly spread through the room. The three she-wolves instinctively lowered their eyes.

“Humiliate?” Lena’s voice turned cold. “From where I’m standing, this was a completely reasonable punishment.

“The headmistress’s responsibility is to maintain the academy’s standards and discipline. And honestly, I’ve heard quite a bit about how you’ve been acting lately. Tell me-what exactly did she do wrong by punishing you?”

“But-” Laila began.

Lena cut her off.

if you still have a problem with it, I suggest you go back to your pack and ask Alpha Stanley whether a werewolf who disrespects someone of a higher rank should face consequences. Frankly, I think Gamma Adelaide went easy on you. If I had been the one to catch you, I would have expelled you without second thought.”

Her words were ruthless, her tone sharp.

Having spent half her life traveling across the country, Lena made friends with werewolves across all socia ranks. Despite her noble birth, she had never been one to throw her weight around.

To her, the three she-wolves making a fuss over a minor punishment and expecting her to intervene were utterly despicable.

The three girls froze, far too terrified to defend themselves.

They had never seen Lena this furious before. Beneath the weight of her overwhelming aura, their legs trembled uncontrollably.

“And one more thing.” Lena continued. “Do not spread rumors about Instructor Abigail. If I hear even one more false and vicious accusation. I don’t care whether she chooses to let it go-I will personally punish you and submit a formal record of your misconduct to the Werewolf Council.”

At the mention of the Werewolf Council, the girls all shuddered.

A record of personal misconduct in the council archives would be an indelible mark on their reputations. Wherever they went in this country, people would know their past and whisper about it.

Winter wasn’t about to accept this. She opened her mouth, ready to argue again.

Laila immediately grabbed her sleeve and shot her a warning look.

Winter pursed her lips. Suppressing the sharp, spicy tang of her pheromones, she rolled her eyes and lowered her head.

“We won’t,” Laila said quickly. “We know we were wrong. And we will seriously reflect on what we’ve done.”

“I hope you mean that.” Lena’s voice remained cold. “If you keep this up, it’s only a matter of time before you’re expelled. I’m not threatening you. I’m telling you the truth.”

She waved her hand.

“Now go. And don’t be late for class tomorrow.”

The girls slowly walked out of the office, their heads hanging low.

The moment they reached the hallway, Winter snorted contemptuously.

“We’re students, not rogues in the black market,” she grumbled. “Does that old hag really have to be so harsh? If we get kicked out, so be it. I never liked studying anyway.”
