This was getting harder and harder to listen to and I was getting worried at what else there could be.

"Ethan let me live with him and I made a few friends, too," Max continued, "My best friend, Mari helped me out so much. We did everything together, but that was until she was murdered. I didn't know what to do, so I did what I do best: run. I ran for God knows how long and I finally dropped to the ground exhausted and out of breath. I found myself in the woods in an unfamiliar place. I was lost and I didn't care. I cried until there I had nothing left. I didn't know how long I was there for, but after hours I got up on wobbly legs and began to try and find my way back. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, too. Once I made it to a road I instantly knew where I was and slowly made my way back home," she stopped and then looked to the wall in front of up with clouded eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked but she ignored the question as she went on.

"As I walked into the house, I found Ethan standing tensely with his back to the door. I tried my hardest not to make a sound so he wouldn't notice me coming in, but he did and spun around to look at me. He looked almost as bad as I felt. Ethan didn't waste any time when he all but sprinted to me. he wrapped his arms securely around me then pulled away from me and cupped my face as he smashed his lips to mine. I was shocked because this is the first time he showed any liking in me," Max said her voice getting more strain as she went on.

I growled lowly at Ethan kissing her. She's mine.

"After that, Ethan and I helped each other with the murder of Mari and our relationship grew to more. We started dating soon after and things escalated quickly and the next thing I knew I was pregnant."

Wait, what?

"I was scared to tell Ethan, thinking he would leave me because he didn't want a kid, so I kept a secret as long as I could, which wasn't as long as I hoped. When he found out eh was surprised but firmly said he would be here for me and our child. We were so young, yet he was so willing to be there for me. Everything was going fine up until I went into early labor and was rushed to the hospital where there was complication and my baby didn't make it...," Max whispered and tears filled her eyes.

I was at disbelief from what I was hearing. The arms around her waist automatically tightened around her bringing her closer. Max was going to have a baby and it wasn't with me.

"Maria. I was going to name her Maria," she continued after she wiped away her tears, "Depression hit me hard and I felt like I didn't have anything to live for. I lost my brother and my baby, not only that, soon after Maria's death, Ethan couldn't handle being here and left too. I had nothing but fighting. I fought to escape the depression and everything that had already happened to me. Doing the illegal fights was the only way I was getting income to get anything and with my depression turning to rage my fights became more frequent and deadlier. I would drink to try and block everything but I quickly realized I was turning into m father in a way. I was drinking and fighting and was blocking out everyone that was once close to me. That's when I decided to pack up everything and move away. A fresh start and that leaves us here."

"My dad died last years from a rogue attack and I soon after I became alpha of the pack," Logan said as we laid in bed.

"Is that how you go the scars on your chest?" I questioned as I traced them with my finger.

"Yeah. That was a hard day for the entire pack, but especially on my mom. She lost her mate and almost me," he added.

"I can't imagine what it must've been like for any of you," I said.

"Well there's not much we can do now."
