Max grabbed a napkin and wiped my face. "You had a little drool...," Max said tapping my chin.
Everybody were in fits of laughter again and I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked around embarrassed.
"So the alpha does blush. Glad I have that effect on him," Max says as she sits down besides me.
After she sat down she looked to me. I could feel the questions rising.
"Where are we going anyways?" she asked.
"Well, you are meeting a few people," I said, not really answering her question.
"Who am I meeting?"
"Another Alpha and his father, they are allies to our pack so I thought it would be good to meet them," I answers truthfully, but not the whole truth.
"Okay. That still doesn't answer my question. Who are we meeting?" Max asked again.
"People."
"You're turning in to me," she mumbled, but dropped the topic.
I want to tell her where we're going and who she is going to meet, but I actually want to get there and her to meet them first before she starts assuming them as bad people that will hurt her. But I wouldn't let them hurt her, or anyone hurt her. Ever.
We walked out to the car and said bye to everyone. We would be back either late tonight or early tomorrow. Kyle was in charge while Jacob and I were gone, hopefully nothing goes wrong.
We started to drive away and it was still early so Max drifted to sleep with her head against the window. I wonder how she is going to react.
"How do you think she will react?" Jacob asked after a while.
"I have no idea," I answer truthfully. With Max I never know what she is going to do.
"How do you think they will react?" he questioned.
"I have no idea," I repeated.
After that it went silent and I continued to drive to Alpha Larks territory. The drive wasn't as long as I thought it would be. I shook Max awake before we got there so she would at least be awake when she meets them.
Once we got there, Alpha Lark and his father were there to greet us. We got out of the car and Max stopped immediately and looked at them with wide eyes that held fear. Alpha Lark and Mr. Lark stared back at her with wide eyes.
"Katie?" they both said at the same time.
Max flinched and shook her head wildly, and started to back up slowly. Max looked a lot like Mr. Lark, so I guess Max's mom- Katie - looked like her father.
I walked up to Max and tired to put my arm around her waist, to try and calm her down, but she just pushed me back and ran in the opposite direction away from us. I watched as she ran into the trees and then disappeared.
"Can you come here, please?" he asked nicely.
Max hesitated, but nodded her head slowly and walked out in front of me. I could tell she was trying to calm down and not have a panic attack.
"Max, I'm Jack... Your mom's dad, and that is James, her brother," Mr. Lark said to her.
Max nodded her head. Both Jack and James look Max over, usually right now she would have her head held high, showing only confidence or determination, but now Max was looking down and the ground avoiding eye contact of anyone.
"Max, was Katie abusive?" Jack asked slowly and quietly.
"Yes," Max replied in a whisper.
Jack slowly walked up to her and pulled her into a hug. Which surprised me. Thankfully I'm not the only one. James was pretty shocked and Max just stood there frozen in place.
Jack pulled back, placing his hands lightly on her shoulders, and had a small smile on his face.
"Come on, I want to talk to you," He said.
"O-okay..." Max replied, the uneasiness in her voice was very noticeable.
I walked up to her and put my arm around her waist to try and comfort her and to tell her I am here for her. We followed Jack and James into their house, Jacob following us and into their living room.
