Adopted novel Chapter 13

The school libraries stand four stories high, each floor belonging to each grade the fourth floor belongs to the seniors, another building holds the staff building and admission office while the last one holds the school stadium and other extracurricular departments.

Golden Elite High allows students to put on their outfits but the girls should always put on shorts and the boys are to use trousers it's a well-guarded school that keeps the paparazzi out and gives freedom to its students.

My father turns out to be a major benefactor of this private school because it is owned by his father's younger brother and now it's run by his cousin, Mom keeps talking about how I will love the school and how I will make friends from the same economical group because Dad attended the school. We will be moving to New York because of my school and I will be resuming immediately the adoption papers has been finalized.

I will be returning to Texas today and I have missed my friends so much, we communicate almost every hour and we talk about what we do every hour, we all have pictures of how our rooms and houses look like and so far, mine seems to be extraordinary, turns out Nia and Sky are both enrolled into another school in Florida, it's also an expensive school and their parents studied there, their parents are very close turns out that they are childhood friends and they also want their kids to follow in their footstep, which the older ones already did.

Due to who my parents are, I must have the best of the best, but I will be far away from my friends with no one to understand me. I just wish my uncle has a child I can relate to.

The car pulls over, I and mom step out of the car I see the jet with the pilots and hostess standing by it, smiling at mom encouragingly I hold on to her hand while we walk towards the waiting jet. Dad couldn't accompany me back to Texas because he had a business emergency that needed his attention, Mom wants to make up for not picking me up from Texas that's why she's taking me back herself and spending some time with me.

We sit beside each other in silence, "Am going to miss you sweetie" Mom says with tears in her eyes. "I will only be gone for eight days, Mom", I tell her squeezing her hands.

"It's still long and I will be lonely" She replies, during my weekend stay I grew closer to my parents and it was fun getting to know them behind the camera and away from their jobs.

"Mom, I will call you every day", I tell her.

"Video call", She negotiates.

"Hmm, what do I get in return woman?" I asked her smiling.

"So much for been a Marshall", She replies.

"Sell me something worth your request, Mama", I say to her.

"Why do you have to be like your father? I have to reduce your interactions with him before I will be the only goodhearted one in the family", She says to me.

Feigning hurt, "I and Dad are goodhearted Mother", I say to her placing my hand on my forehead dramatically.

"That I know, you drama queen", She responds with full-blown laughter.

The adoption papers were finalized yesterday, we will be leaving the Orphanage tomorrow, we have today to pack our things and say our farewells to friends and that means saying goodbye to each other.

Am the only person who has to say a final goodbye to Nia and Sky, they will be seeing each other and will still have each other, while am the only one who will be away from them.

I tried beseeching my parents to also enroll me into their school because of the distance, but my admission into Golden Elite High(GEH) has been approved, my books have been bought and my parents are in New York already.

As well as the Blacks and the Walkers want their footpaths followed by their kids, my dad also want the same, at least the Blacks and Walkers both have kids before the adoption, their kids also followed their parent's path but my dad have no child before I was adopted, his path remains unfollowed.

Attending GEH is the least I can do to show my appreciation towards him, even if it's going to cost me my friends and everything I love. Dad made a deal with me though, during holidays I can go visit them in Florida, he even bought me a beach house in Miami to stay whenever I choose to go visit, I accepted because I still have the opportunity to visit them for vacations and they can also come over to New York to visit me also.

We decide to still keep our money in the joint account and we are to deposit $300 every week into the account, we still plan on having a house together we will be buying it with our money.

I learnt Nia's parents named her "Sophie Emma Walker", she decides not to keep the name she was given here, while Sky's parents named him "William Cole Black", he also didn't keep his name. Maybe I shouldn't either.

After we arrive from the weekend visits, we all decide to address ourselves by our given names, so we can get used to being called our names once we are out of here. We all address ourselves using our middle names, Emma, Cole, and Aurora.
