Adopted novel Chapter 57

As much as we all will love to help her out there is little we can do to avoid more trauma to her brain, we all sat looking at her in mom's arm knowing the peaceful look she is currently wearing will soon be off. She rarely got forty-five minutes before the nightmares begins which afterwards she goes blank and doesn't sleep anymore because she is frightened and I will be if I am to be in her shoes, who would be able to sleep after seeing what the terrible people are capable of doing in their subconscious stage? If it was to be someone else I am certain the next solution will be suicide that's why Ro is a strong person.

"Do you think the nightmares will wake her up soon?" Dad asked using his palm to play with her hair and looked at mom who only shrug in response, "I wish she can sleep without them coming back." Justin said with a sigh "me and you both." I responded matching his sigh it started again. "please don't hurt me, please I just want to find my friend, please not my panties again, it hurts please stop," She started mumbling while trashing around in attempt to free herself from her abusers, mom burst into tears as she holds on to her telling her it was all a nightmare that she's safe with us now but the trashing kept going so was the mumbling "please sir I won't miss the bus ever again just let me go for today, please someone help me, please it hurts stop, Sky it hurts and they don't want to stop help me," she cried out loudly making me collect her from mom's arm into mine I heard the door slammed opened and footsteps but I was too engrossed in trying to bring her back.

"Haz it's Sky baby, it's only a dream you are save with us here you can open your eyes" I cajoled hoping she listens "they are coming to get us Sky, they will hurt us again won't they?" she mumbled with fear in her voice and tears gushing down her eyes it was then I noticed I had tears running down my cheeks also because I remembered the terror she was reliving. It was one of the days I had to close late and Haz came to stay with me so we could walk to the orphanage together, it was quite late and we decided to take the normal route due to the streetlights and the passing vehicles hoping to avoid the inevitable. We were talking about our day and how lucky Nia was to be close to the school and how she closes early, we walked pass a bar with some men outside the bar smoking and few talking gibbish obviously they were drunk.

One of them held Haz's hand pulling her into himself and she struggled with him "leave her alone" I said to him pushing him back I pulled Haz away from him making him stumble and he hit his head on the wall behind him alerting his friends of our presence, "look what we have here boys?" one of the said with a wicked smile on his face walking towards us while we walked with our backs looking at them afraid of the outcome, "we just want to play kids, you don't have to make this difficult by running" another said making the rest nod their head in agreement.

I looked at Ro who was scared and I knew I had to step up for both of us "run" I said to her and we ran with all our might the footsteps of the men could be heard closing on behind us "faster Haz" I shouted making sure she is ahead of me and we entered an alley where she tripped and fall and she shouted out in pain making me stop, I pulled her up and hid with her behind a dumpster hoping we won't be found but their footsteps could be heard in the alley with their heavy breathing "you can come out kids, it will be easier this way than having to find you" one of them said breathing heavily in between "they are coming to get us Sky and they will hurt us, won't they?" she asked with tears streaming down her eyes "no matter what happens to us, I am here and we will go through it together." I responded to her pulling her into a hug, "here you are" we heard one of the men say pulling us apart we tried to get away from them with screams for help but no one helped us and her cries was all I could hear in the once quiet alley while I was going through my own fair share of pains.

"Are you alright Cole?" I heard a voice pulled me out of my thought, it was only then I realized how crowded the room was Lorenzo and the guys were looking at me with concerns on their faces and the girls had tears in the eyes, "I am fine, just had a flashback" I told them. I pulled Ro closer "It's over Haz they are gone now, you can open your eyes now Nia is waiting for us" I said to her, she stopped the trashing and the cries reduced to sobs before she opened her eyes, she pulled me into herself tight "they hurt you, didn't they?" she whispered making mom cry loud I could hear dad consoling her, "we are fine now babes" I replied with a grim on my face.

I am always saying Ro needs closure to heal and I will be lying if I say I also don't need the same, there are times when I stay up all night after a nightmare back in Florida only Emma knows about it and she tried getting me to visit a therapist but I wasn't comfortable opening up about my life to someone whom I don't know and doesn't know anything about me, so I didn't and now seeing what Ro is going through I think I will need to talk to a professional maybe we can do it together. We are both damaged in our own different ways with hers been the most that's why I admire her strength and vision to see the world in a different way even with everything she has gone through, we will also heal in our own way but we will together.
