Adopted novel Chapter 7

"Your friends have similar benefits honey, we won't be at peace knowing our daughter is not with us and she's not with a team of security also to keep her safe, please accept this just for our sanity pumpkin." My about to be mother says noticing my discomfort when she puts it like that it's hard to refuse her and my friends are also probably going through the same thing I nod my head in agreement with them which earn me a hug from both of them. I hope this marks a new beginning in our lives because we need the happiness and love only a family could provide.

The silence in the room is enough to understand that we are all lost in our worlds trying to process what we all just passed through some hours ago and how it's going to affect our lives each, I keep staring at the door expecting someone to come out with a camera and screams you've been pranked or for someone to just walk in to wake me up from my slumber, It's times like this I will appreciate the kind of entrance May gives herself in our room just to pull us out of our dreams.

Oceania walks out of the room only for her to come back with a panic look on her face. "Are you guys aware of the guards standing outside our door?" She inquires pointing at the door nervously while she starts her regular pacing which she does when she's trying to figure something out, "Seriously I don't need them," Sky screams at the door before burying his face into his pillow, "Same here," Oceania fires back at him before walking to the middle of the room to sit on the chair looking defeated for the first time. Oceania always believes she will be the female version of Sherlock Holmes, she hates being kept in suspense and she loves knowing about things that involves her friends, that's why I and Sky know she will make a perfect lawyer but for the first time in forever she looked defeated, "How real was today's event?" I voice out, the behaviors of my friends are starting to get to me, the presence of the guards Nia claims she saw and the defeated look on her face is making me question my sanity, I want to know how real today's event is.

"It's our reality Haz," Nia shout a response at me slamming her hand on the table in annoyance, I jump up from our bed in of fear of getting hit with anxiety kicking in and my body starts shaking due to nerves, my eyes gets blurry with tears I can feel the room closing up on me and my lungs starting to give up I find it hard to breathe although I cannot hear my friends trying to calm me but I could see was their movements and the sound of the door opening with heavy footsteps following that, the room becomes crowdy with instructions flying around but only two stands out which I am certain belongs to my friends, "Follow my voice Hazel," I hear Oceania say while another person tries pulling me back into the bed, "You are going to be fine just take a deep breath, in and out," Sky says calmly "deep breath and try opening your eyes mam" a new voice joins in, I follow the voice's instructions back to consciousness and within five minutes I can see the room very well and my friends looks at me with concern on their faces, the room is now occupied by seven bodyguards who also have a relieve look on them they nod their head towards me asking if I am okay and I nod back at them my response made them leave the room.

"I am alright now," I say to my friends who I could see were also worried with a tired smile on my face trying to ease their worries, "I am sorry for shouting at you," Oceania apologizes to me looking down at her feet in regrets. "I am fine Nia at least I need to start getting use to been shouted at," I respond looking at her in defeat, "Do you think I will be able to survive in their world?" I ask timidly looking at my friends, "look at me girlfriend our about to be adoptive parents are family friends of yours, which means we will be together always." Sky replies with his hands holding mine tightly before pulling me into a hug, "We will be fine because we always have ourselves." Oceania inputs with a smile on her face also joining the hug. "Tell me about those adopting you, what are they like?" I ask Nia after we pulling out of the hug while we all lay on the bed with Oceania and Sky at the edge and I in the middle facing the door.

"Well they are the Walkers, the husband has a law firm while the wife is a medical doctor she has her own hospital, they have a son whose name is Daniel he's a 23years old neurologist, he's engaged to his longtime girlfriend who is a Nurse, he always wanted a sister so he asked his parents to adopt a teenage sister for him to protect so I am going to have a protective brother." She said looking at me with a smile on her face, "good for you having someone to put you through your career plan already and did he know he's your role model?" I tease in response, I am really happy for her she had always gush about how she wants to be like Barrister Walker and not only is she going to get her wish but he's also going to be her father and I can see how excited she is, "I did actually, can you believe it the Barrister Walker is going to be my father? You should see the look on his face when I told him I want to be a lawyer like him, he had this look of pride on him he talks about starting my application into Harvard School of Law, can you believe that I will be attending Harvard guys," She explains with happiness radiating from every inch of her body, for the first time in forever after her parent's incident she was genuinely happy and I was grateful, "You deserve the best Nia." Sky says to her agreeing to my thoughts.
