In this standout chapter of the Internet novel Alana, Z Cr4vinz introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
Why is it so cold this time a year?
I think to myself upon entering my favorite little cafe.
My mocha hair blows with the wind and I find myself smiling softly as the warm air surrounds me as I enter.
I walk towards the showcase and my smile turns into a grin as I recognize my favorite treats.
Donuts completely covered in chocolate frosting.
Yum!
I walk towards the cashier ready to order but a deep growl catches me off guard.
My head snaps towards the direction and a guy stands there scowling at me. A very handsome guy I must admit. He had broad shoulders and was quite muscular. Tall, green eyes, brown short hair but still long enough that I could run my hand through it. I've seen that face somewhere though.
"It can't be you." He snarls in disgust and I look at him confused.
"Um...I'm sorry do I know you?" I ask, not in a rude way and he scoffs.
"You're not even one of us. Are you?"
One of them?
I look behind him and sure enough, four guys and two girls sat with the same amount of disgust or surprise. However, one of the guys look sympathetic and gave me a shy smile.
I mean I'm human so...aren't they human too?
I was going to smile back but a tight grip on my hand and a strong pull towards the door brought me out of my trance.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" I screech but he doesn't stop. His jaw ticks and I squirm as he pulls me into a deserted alleyway.
We stop and I glare at him as he stares at me.
"Uh hello?! What the hell is wrong with you?" I yell but he starts pacing.
"Listen. I may seem crazy but I'm...I'm a werewolf."
I do believe him. I know all about these creatures because my best friend is one.
"Because I don't want you."
"Woah..." I step back from his bluntness and ignore the hurt.
"First of all, you're black. You're a nerd, no parents, no life. You're lame. I don't even want to know your name much less mate with you. So do us both a favor and reject me."
Oh.
Okay...
There's this ache in my chest and although we just met and I never really had any feelings for him, it hurts. A lot.
The tears prick the corner of my eyes and I find myself moving backward.
"I-i I'm sorry. I-" I quickly spin around and run.
Ignore the frustrated cry that comes from the alleyway.
