Within weeks of my arrival, I began to fall ill. The healers were puzzled—the symptoms resembled silver sickness, but I had no exposure to silver.

My condition deteriorated rapidly, and I found myself bedridden, feverish, and weak.

"It's just like her mother," I overheard Kiera telling my father. "Remember how Hannah wasted away? Some bloodlines are simply weak."

By the time I recovered—my half-blood nature giving me just enough resilience to survive—my position in the pack had been firmly established.

I became the lowest of the low, a servant to my father's new family again just like I used to be.

I can't help but recall the past painfully.

Kiera, now my step mother and she fits into that stereotypical image of a step mother.

Mean, evil, long blonde hair, light blue eyes, bimbo and only has one goal in life; To get as much money and power as possible.

All I know about her life before I knew her was that her mate died during a rogue attack.

Her twin daughters are Layla and Hazel.

Layla is an exact replica of her mother, physically wise and personality wise but Hazel isn't.

Hazel isn't like her mother and sister, she doesn't look like them either.

Hazel has long wavy brown hair, hazel brown eyes (hence the name Hazel) and has soft features.

Layla, like her mother, has pin-straight blond hair, light blue eyes, high cheekbones and sharp features.

I'm my 'familys' personal slave.

Which means I cook, clean and basically do anything I'm told to do. I wake up every morning at 6am to cook breakfast then I do the chores that need to be done. At the end of the day I get my daily beating.

No matter how well I do my chores, I'm never rewarded. No matter how well behaved I am, I'm never rewarded.

I'm beaten instead.

Most nights the beatings consist of a few punches and kicks but then there's other nights; nights when my father is in a worse mood then he usually is and beats me until I'm unconscious.

I dread those nights.

I may be a werewolf and have better healing then humans but my body isn't strong enough. As well as being beaten, I rarely get food and if I do it's either scraps or food that I sneak away to eat.

Because I'm starved, my body is malnourished and can't heal normally.

The only good thing in my life right now is my wolf.

Unlike the other members in my pack who got their wolves when they were 13, I received my wolf when I was ten.

I didn't tell anyone because it would've made everything worse. I would've been seen as a freak and been considered even more of an outcast then I already was.

Before my mother left Red Moon Pack with me, my father was the best dad I could've asked for. He spoiled me, he played with me, he even did my hair when my mother was busy. But most importantly, he loved me.

The day my mother left was the day his love for me turned into hate.

A small sigh escaped my lips as I broke away from my thoughts.

Oh how I wished my mother was still alive and we were all a happy family again.

I wiped a stray tear from my cheek as I began setting the table. I plated up dinner and stepped back towards the wall. The sound of approaching footsteps caused my body to tense and my head to immediately snap downwards so I stared at the floor.

"You are dismissed mutt. Carry on with your chores" my father grunted as they all sat at the table.

I bowed my head lower then quickly scurried out the back door towards the garden.

I spent the next hour in the garden pulling weeds, planting and collecting the fully grown vegetables.

I carried the basket inside and set it on the ground by the sink then began washing the vegetables. I wiped a bead of sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand as I finished washing the last vegetable.

My eyes widened when I heard someone approaching and quickly turned towards the sink and began rewashing some veg to look busy.

"Rosiane?" A voice said, causing me to tense before relaxing as I recognised the voice then turned to face Hazel.

Hazel was the only person who didn't abuse me. Although she doesn't stop people doing it, I'm still thankful that I have someone who shows me kindness.
