We stayed like this for so long, kissing each other like our life depended on it and stayed close to each other as if we were about to part our ways. Finally, we went inside Dr. Renne as he sat with that big wide smile.

"Hello again, how was Maldives?" I instantly smiled as I told him every place we visited in Maldives. It was great to talk to him, my heart felt at ease. He was like a father figure and he made me feel free, that I could talk to him about anything.

"Janet? I got a question for you." I nodded my head as he spoke again.

"How was your life when you lived with your aunt?" He asked making me shiver as I remembered all those horrific beating and even some peaceful nights where she was away. I didn't know how but I felt like I could speak up for that woman did to me.

"It was great when she wasn't home or with anyone of her guys. But when she was home, her voice was all I could hear. As she shouted at me, blaming me and my parents for ruining her life. I always thought my parents left me because I wasn't needed but then when I met them. I came to realize that she was just trying to get in my head and she did." I told him with a sad sigh as he gave me a smile.

"Did you endure any physical pain?" He asked making me gulp.

"Yes. And I don't want to talk about it."

"Very well. That's all I need to know. I know you are thankful of what you have now and that's great. So, don't go to the past, look after yourself now and keep moving on." I nodded my head as we kept talking for a little while before going out towards our house. Nathan was really quiet as I turned to face him.

"Why are you quiet?" I asked him.

"You didn't promise me." He said, his face emotionless.

"Promise you what?" I said as I took a hold of his hand.

"That no matter what happens, you won't go to that woman, even if my life depends on it." I hesitated as I turned to face away, towards the window. I can't do this, no I can't. He is all I have. I am selfish because I don't want to lose him, he needs to live his life and I am just being an obstacle.

"I promise." I lied with a smile as my heart started aching. I wish I didn't have to lie but it's the only way.

I am doing this only for him.

"Janet? Do you understand?" Her eyes met mine as I could feel emotions going through them but anyone else looking at her would find an easy-going little girl. She nodded her head as she went back to what she was doing making me roll my eyes.

"Come on, I will drop all of you off to the house." Without a question, they all followed me out of the hospital.

"Riley, I need you to keep a close eye on Janet, anything happens you call me the exact second. Got it?" I told her as I sat on the loveseat while she took a seat right in front of me in the living room. She shook her head up and down as her mind drifted off to something, her face turned and peered the door Janet has walked into.

"Do you- Do you think Janet will go willingly with her Aunt just so she thinks that you won't be harmed?" I gazed at this old lady for a good two second before huffing some air out of my lips. I knew Janet would do anything if it means to keep me away from suffering or being in agony. Even if she gets hurts or worst even if she di- She may have promised me but I don't believe her one bit. She may be thinking of leaving right now or how to get out of here so her mother or I won't suffer. Over my dead body.

"That's why I want you to look after her." I informed her as she titled her head back with an exhausted sigh and then nodding her head in understanding.

"I will go have some rest." Riley proceeded towards her room as I thought of pressing her to move out as well. I know Janet loves her but it's for the best. For now, she is safe here but later I would want my privacy with my wife. It would be better this way. My phone rang breaking me out of my thoughts.
