Hide The Secrets novel Chapter 6

"MMMMAAAAACCCC!!!!" My kids scream and run through the hotel lobby to greet Mac at the reception desk, he is pretty much an uncle to them. "Guess what Uncle Mac, Guess what?!" Arloe and Weaver shout in unison as Mac leans over and picks them both up, I am left to pick up their backpacks that they dropped whilst running through the lobby before heading over to join them.

"Erm, I dunno guys, erm... you got a hat made of hotdogs from Carlisle?" They all laugh loudly and Weaver says "NO Uncle Mac, we go to... to... escuela!!" Mac knows they get confused over spanish and english words so he corrects her. "Wow guys!! No way?! You are going to school?! That is sooo exciting, make sure you draw me a picture!" It is now that I realise Arloe has grown silent. He is looking towards the doors of the hotel, i follow his gaze and see...

Matteo.

I freeze, we are now staring straight at each other. I break the stare and glance around. He is stood with his girlfriend/fiancé and their presence has seemed to draw attention from the paparazzi, cameras are flashing and reporters are shouting questions now so he is slightly distracted.

"Mac I need you to help me right now.."

"Ok, what is it?"

"I... I need you to pretend we are together and help me get to my room before he" i point a glare at Matteo "comes over here".

"Ok, come on..." he walks us over to the elevator, still carrying my kids who are chatting animatedly about their favourite cartoon. He sets them down, he takes Arloe's hand and i take Weavers before Mac holds out his hand for me. I take it. The elevator dings and we pile into the elevator. I just want to escape to my room and hide my kids and I want to find out why Harriet didn't warn me... there is many thoughts running through my head that when someone shouts "HOLD THE DOORS" I do. Only when the person walks on I realise my mistake... It's Matteo.

Grace's POV.

I am on the verge of tears because i feel like my world is falling apart. Then Mac speaks to me "Hey Honey, you ok? I can put the kids to bed and we can watch a movie?"

I glance down and nod before Mac pulls me into his side, he is like a brother and i couldn't imagine doing this without him. He knows that something is wrong and the Man stood to our right is the cause.

"Yeah ok.."
