I heard a strong growl as Thaddeus charged the guy who looked like he was going to shit himself. I took this distraction and ran to Carter who welcomed my hug and embraced me.

"Carter, I missed you so much," I spoke my voice shaking and feeling like an absolute bitch for doing that to an innocent man. He chuckled and separated from the hug.

"Same old Scarlett. Nice stunt you pulled by the way," he said chuckling.

"Well, he seems to be extremely occupied," I said and looked at my ruthless mate who was holding the guard by his collar and whispering something in his ear.

"Scarlett, I came to bring you back home," Carter said turning me to face him.

"This is her home," Thaddeus said as he yanked me behind him.

"No, it is not, she lives with my family and me," Carter countered. "She's been living with us for 19 years, you can't take her away."

"Get off my land, Beta, I will not hesitate to kill you," Thaddeus growled back using his Alpha voice. Carter didn't bow his head but focused on my worried expression behind Thaddeus.

"FINE. But it doesn't look like this is her home. DO YOU SEE HER? You call me here to check on her, and once she shows signs of life you kick me out? I know all you want is for your mate to be alive so you're more powerful but I want my sister to be alive because I love her," he replied finally shifting his eyes back to Thaddeus. He kicked the brown paper box towards Thaddeus and slammed the door shut.

Once I had the courage, I brought the box upstairs to an empty room. Staring at it just seemed useless. The room had all white walls and a small sofa and cube TV. I walked towards the wall and placed the box on the floor with my camera next to it. I looked through the small closet and found some tape and glue and calmly began to stick the pictures onto the wall. I stood on my tiptoes to put some of them higher than others.

Once I was done, I stood back and looked over my work. Damn, I take too many pictures. I smiled and sat on the small comfy sofa and looked through the rest of the box, finding also my drawings and sketch pads. I drew what came to mind, anger, sadness, longing. Why couldn't I have died along with Jason? Why couldn't I-

"Scarlett," Thaddeus sighed out, interrupting my thoughts as he walked to sit on the end of the sofa. I didn't reply knowing already what he was going to say.

"Why is your family on my wall?"

Boom, there's the question.

"It's photos I've taken," I said and shrugged. "Plus they're not all of my family," I added before placing the sketchpad back into the box and walking out of the room with Thaddeus on my tail. I didn't want to deal with him right now. He was following me around as if I was a dog and he didn't want to let me go too far from him.

"Scarlett," he said, but I just kept walking ignoring him, finding my way to the kitchen.

"Scarlett," he said again. I sighed as I turned around, leaning against the cabinet and looked up at him.
