"So that means you can't be yourself?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. I was way too stressed on my birthday.
"Yes, If I have to be a dick just to make sure I have a future and to make sure my mother will continue to have a happy life then I will," he said seriously. "But Claire, I don't want to lose you along the way. I really like you, hell I may even love you! We've been together for over a month now almost two. And I don't want to throw that all away because of Jax." He stood in front of me now and I could easily see he was telling the truth.
"I don't want this ruined either. We just have to make sure Jax stays out of this," I murmured looking into his striking blue eyes as he looked into mine.
"Does this mean you'll still be my fiancé?" he asked and I nodded. A huge smile appeared on his face and he grabbed me by the waist twirling me around.
"That's great because I have something for you," he said setting me on my feet. He got down on one knee making me roll my eyes at him being dramatic. He pulled out a white ring case thing and opened it.
"Claire Martez, will you please do me the honor and accept this ring and officially be my fiancé," he asked me. "Of course, since neither one of us are ready for marriage and we haven't been together that long. So I mean just officially be my girlfriend I guess," he whispered not even a second after as if someone was videotaping this.
"Although I've been your girlfriend for like two months now I guess I can be your fiancé," I told him and he smiled slipping the ring on my finger. He stood up and kissed my lips and I tried not to laugh in the kiss as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Did you really just do a fake proposal?" I asked pulling back a little with a small laugh taking a look at the ring. "Wow this is beautiful," I told him.
"Well we have to prepare for the future," he said with a cheeky smile and I removed my arms from around his neck lightly hitting his chest.
"Happy Birthday, Claire," he said kissing my forehead and I murmured a quick thank you. He put his arm around my shoulder and we both left the room.
"I'm getting married!" he yelled throughout the hall and my eyes widened.
"Nick!"
"We aren't actually getting married Nick is just trying to be funny," I said after Nathan gave me a look that said, 'what the hell.'
"I see Caiden beat the hell out of you," I said smirking as I walked over to where Jax was groaning in pain.
"Fucking bitch," he spat out before coughing up some blood. I was sure his face was going to hurt like hell along with other parts of his body. And I thought getting hit in the eye was bad. He managed to get up slowly but only by holding onto the wall.
"Need help getting back to your room?" I asked him. I may be a bitch sometimes - if not all the time but I knew how to be nice too.
"That would be great," he hissed through clenched teeth.
"If you get any blood on this jacket you're paying for it," I muttered putting his arm over my shoulder. He actually wasn't very heavy.
That's because you are in shape and workout.
Must you always interrupt my thoughts?
Yes.
"After you're done with helping him we are going to finish making this the best day of your life," Nathan told me and I nodded." You can go with us if you'd like," he told Nick and he nodded. I made my way out of the building only having to stop a few times.
"Why are you helping me?"
"Because as much of a douchebag you are Caiden is still a billion times worse," I said honestly. Now don't get me wrong I feel absolutely no sympathy toward Jax. I'm sure he deserved it since whatever he was about to say made Caiden look murderous.
"Caiden may be an ass but if you lived his life you would understand. I personally think he will never be the same again," Jax said honestly as I opened the door to the lobby.
"What made him like this?" I asked not being able to hold back my curiosity.
"It's not my business to say." I scoffed at this, "You didn't have a problem with almost saying that earlier."
"If it wasn't obvious I like getting under people's skin," he said and I rolled my eyes pressing the elevator button.
"You're right, it's not my business," I said walking a few more steps till I was in front of the room 327.
"The sexual tension between you two is real," Jax said unlocking his door.
"I hate him just like he hates me. There is nothing more," I say helping him to a bed.
"My bed is the other one."
"That sucks. You can walk over to it yourself," I said before leaving and shutting the door behind me. I jumped when I saw Caiden next to the door.
"What are you doing?"
"Why were you helping him?" We asked at the same time. Our replies were just glaring at each other. Of course mine wasn't as menacing though. I decided to just ignore him and head back toward the elevator.
"Stop doing that," Caiden said grabbing my arm making me stop.
"Stop doing what?" I asked looking at him.
"Stop ignoring me," he said and I was going to reply before I noticed the stressed look on his face. For some reason with Caiden I could tell exactly what he was feeling just by looking into his eyes. It's the only place his emotions sat.
"Why? Does it bother you?" I retorted.
"Yes," he didn't even bat an eye when responding. "Especially when it's a slut like you."
"Is it ever tiring trying to get everyone to hate you? Or how about just in general pushing everyone away?" I asked him and he released his hold on my arm taking a step back from me. He didn't reply and this time he didn't try to stop me as I walked toward the elevator. Even when I was leaning against the wall inside while the doors were slowly closing he was still standing there just staring at me. Once the doors were officially shut I let out the breath I didn't even realize I was holding.
I just got the last words with Caiden and those words even left him speechless.
