If I didn't come home tonight, I wondered if my family would notice. Well, a part of me hoped they did. Yes, that was the human part. The part that was their daughter and wanted them to find me. My wolf said they couldn't get involved. My family was just human. If the Stalkers hurt them in anyway, I would never forgive myself.
Yeah, my family wasn't perfect, but it was the only one I've got. And I knew I planned on leaving them in two years, but I couldn't yet. As a wolf, I was a loner, but as a girl, I had a family. One that cared for me even though they didn't always show it in the way I wanted.
It all came down to what I wanted. Right now, I wanted to be free and back home, where it was safe. There was only one person I could think of that might be able to save me. Technically, he's not a person, he's a werewolf, but whatever.
Jace. We were mates and he didn't always resist the pull. There was a chance he could find me. Maybe if I stopped resisting, he could, but was I ready for what came with the pull? No, to be honest, I was scared out of my mind. I've never been around other werewolves. But Jace...
Yeah, so there was no time for me to finish that thought because at that moment, one of the Stalkers turned around and nudged his other buddy. "She's awake," he said as he turned and glared at me. Damn, this was not good.
I did what was my impulse and glared back at him. A growl sounded from my throat, which didn't please the first Stalker. He was the armed one, and apparently the merciless one. He pulled the trigger on his gun and fired at my leg.
I yelped in pain, but it came out muffled considering I WAS GAGGED! Idiots. But, the shot hurt like hell. Blood started to pour out of wound, but it slowed to a stop.
That's one of the pros of being a werewolf, we heal. It's better in wolf form than in human form, though. As a human, we just don't loose much blood. Our wounds are still open, they just take the normal time to actually heal enough to close. When in wolf form, the whole would heals in a matter of minutes.
The only time it's fatal is if we get pierced in the heart, head, or through the throat. I knew Big & Ugly, my nickname for the guy who had shot me, knew that. They were keeping me alive. For what reason, I didn't know.
My leg still hurt like a bitch, though, considering I was freakin shot. It was times like these that I was so glad I was a werewolf. I wasn't glad that Big & Ugly was one, though. The only reason he knew I was awake was because my heartbeat increase when I thought about Jace. Yep, that's just another thing I'm putting on my blame list.
He really is my only chance at getting out, though. I guess it was time to give into the pull.
Just as I was reaching them, I caught her scent. Finally, but, wait. There was a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing was that I had caught her scent and would be able to follow her. Bad thing was that I caught two more scents. Werewolves.
Holy crap! The scent was unfamiliar to me, so they weren't pack. They had her. They'd taken her. If they weren't pack, then they were either from another pack, which I doubted. What would another pack want with my girl?
The wolves could either be rouges or stalkers. I hoped to God that they weren't rouges. If they were, I'm not going to lie, but she was screwed. One bite, and she was dead.
For now, I needed to gather some more of my pack. We had to find her. They might be not be happy with going on a rescue mission for a lone she-wolf, but they couldn't disobey my orders.
Soon, I got to my beta and told him to round up some more of the pack members. I didn't know how many there were where the two guys had taken her, but there were at least two. We gathered a team of five, including me, and took off after her scent.
