I waited for his reaction, not knowing what it would be. "So, I'm guessing you were with him last night?" he asked awkwardly, not meeting his eyes.

Oh my god! He thought that Jace and I had sex! I frowned. "Yeah, but Ryan, we didn't do anything. He was just there for me. You know. He consoled me."

Relief swept over his face. "Oh, well, okay. I know you want to stay, Dani, but I honestly can't take care of you. And you can't live alone."

"The pack has offered to let me stay with them," I said.

"The pack or the alpha?"

I sighed. "Does it matter? Jace will do anything for me. He's promised to give me a room, money, anything else I need. And I won't owe him because he's my mate."

"Jace?" Ryan asked.

"Yeah," I said. "That's his name. Please, Ryan. All you have to do is be my legal guardian and nothing else. You can check in on me whenever you want. Just please let me stay."

My brother sighed. "Okay, fine. But I want to meet him soon. I also want to see where you'll be staying and every Saturday, we will have lunch together in town. Got it?" he asked.

Unlike myself, I squealed and hugged Ryan. "Thank you!" I said. "Thank you so much, Ryan. You don't know how much this means to me! You are the best big brother in the whole universe and beyond. I owe you so much!"

Ryan tried to break my grasp. "Are you sick or something?"

I smiled and stood back. "No, just happy."

"Kay..." he said slowly. "Wait, so you're in love with him?"

Understatement. But I wouldn't want to scare him. I nodded. "Yeah. I'm in love with Jace Colton Broderick."

Jace's P.O.V.

Once again, I was in my office trying to occupy my time with paper work. I was really already done with it, but I was checking it over. Dani had been on my mind ever since I left her. Her expression was humorous when I drove away. No doubt, she was completely pissed. A smile crept upon my face just thinking a it.

Then I thought about her might leaving. If she left, I don't know what I'd do. She just came into my life and no one was going to take her out. That couldn't happen. Her parents just died, and I lost my dad. We weren't going to lose each other.

As alpha of my pack, and her mate for that matter, I just wouldn't allow it.

Again, I needed to get her off my mind. Should I hang out with Henry and Savannah? No. I wasn't really in the mood to watch them suck each others faces and try to take their clothes off. I made that mistake last month, and trust me, it was not pleasant. At all.

"Seven minutes," I told her smiling to myself.

"Is that a record?"

"No, but I can set one."

I heard her chuckle. 'Fine," she told me. 'Be here. Seven minutes... Just things are hard here with my brothers and all -"

"Don't worry about it," I said. 'I know what it's like."

"Thank you," she said quietly.

"I'll see you soon," I said and hung up.

After that, I left the house and made it to the woods. Quickly, I changed and was at her house in six minutes. Once again, I changed and made my way to her front door.

Dani's P.O.V.
