"The only reason I will kill another wolf is because they are trying to kill me, or they are going to hurt someone I care about." He calmed his voice down slightly but his eyes stayed the bright red. "I have never killed a human and I'll try to avoid it. Wolves accept killing. It happens all the time. It may be shit but it still happens." He finished.
I was just staring at him wide eyed. "I am never going to kill you. I'd rather kill myself first in th most painfull form of torture than leave so much as a scratch on you. As I've always said, I'm here to protect and to watch out for you. If you ever question me about killing you again, it's proof that I'm not doing my role as mate properly." With the last part, his voice almost cracked.
I hated carrying on about this but I couldn't help it. He killed wolves. It may not be horrible in his society but in mine it was. My emotions were in a frenzy and I couldn't control my actions. I'm just so confused.
For the next minute we just stared at each other not knowing what to say.
"If you don't mind I want to get you home. It's about to get dark and that's when the real dangerous people come out." Stiffly nodding my head, I followed quietly behind Michael to the car not saying anything to make sure he didn't get angry again. The drive home was silent and full of tension until we got to my house.
Michael insisted on coming in but I declined his offer. Before parting I apologised for over reacting but made it clear that I didn't approve of killing people, and it had to 100% stop if I was going to be with him.
"Good morning Hun," Sally chirped as I slumped into work. I mumbled a string of words which I'm practically positive makes zero sense as I made my way out into the back room. As the staff door that led into the staff room slowly closed behind me, I heard Sally laughing behind at me.
"Lani!" Two male voices called as I walked into the staff room.
"Jacob, Lenny." I greeted with a nod and with no emotion im my voice. I was struggling to keep my eyes open from the lack of sleep I had from the night before. Thoughts of Michael actually killing many people, wolves or not, kept me thinking and it just wouldn't leave my mind.
I know for a fact that he won't intestinally hurt me, he has told me that on many occasions but I still felt uneasy until this morning. From the lack of sleep and thinking about it all night I had already cleared all my worries.
Michael won't hurt me.
So yeah, practically my eyes were burning in pain from me trying to keep them open. The day is lovely, with the sun shining brightly and the weather nice and hot. As soon as I finish my four hour shift at the surf shop, I was going to the beach for my training session with Tanner, then heading home to start packing for my five day get away with Michael.
"Sally said you're the money chick today," Lenny informed me as he was looking down at his phone. Nodding my head, I threw my bag in the corner that I claimed as mine and made my way out to the floor.
"Alana, if you promise to stay awake for me, there's three cookies waiting for you on the counter," Sally chirped from the female section, popping her head up and over a shelf holding a range of clothes on sale for 20% off. Instantly, my eyes lit up and I practically sprinted over to the counted.
These cookies are to die for.
Happily, I took the seat behind the counter and took the plastic wrap off the plate and took a cookie and started munching away happily.
About three minutes later I reached down to grab the next cookie when my hand met an empty plate.
"What the?" I muttered to myself. "Where did it go?" I looked around on the bench and even checked on the ground but there was no cookie to be found. I could feel my eyebrows furried and I was just plain confused.
I heard a small chuckle and I looked up and was met with a grinning Lenny and Jacob who were clearly amused.
"Working, or trying to steal my boyfriend?" she glared. I couldn't help but let a little laugh escape my lips.
I had met Sarah on lots of occasions, and I wish I could say it was a pleasure each time but it wasn't. Every time I'm accused of stealing her boyfriend.
"We've been over this many times before, No I'm not." I stated dryly, sobering up from my laugh.
"Lenny babe, you know how I feel about you seeing this girl," she seethed, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her body close into Lenny's.
Ewwww, gross.
"Sarah, Lani is my work mate." Lenny explained, his hand trailing further down her back than I would have liked to see.
"Guys! Guys! Guys!" I shouted breaking up their inappropriate moment. "This is a PG rated environment. Saved that gross touching for closed doors." I grossly stated. Lenny threw a cheeky wink at me and grinned, while Sarah threw me a dirty look.
"You heard her, run along baby. I'll go to yours after work." Lenny told Sarah. She flirtatiously fluttered her eyelashes at him and turned on her heel and walked out the door swaying her hips a bit too much while shooting me one last dirty look. As soon as the door had closed, I flatly looked at Lenny who just shrugged with a smug look.
"What? She's hot."
