I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding as he took a step back from the wolf lying on the ground. Instantly, it jumped to its feet and ran away into the forest, its tail between its hind legs and its ears dropped low in shame.
Even though the wolf has ran away, we both remain unmoving, just studying each other. Finally, his wolf cocked his head to the side as if he was asking me a question. I was racking my brain trying to think on what he would be asking but drew a blank.
"C-can you understand m-me?" I stuttered. Instantly the wolf nodded his head in a yes movement which I was thankful for.
How awkward if we couldn't understand one another.
"Are you okay?" I asked, which he once again nodded to. "He didn't bight you?" this time he shook his head no and I felt as if I could breathe easier knowing that he was okay.
Slowly yet cautiously, I took a step towards Michael. Once again he cocked his head to the side, intently studying me for signs of anything.
He looked so beautiful sitting there. The sun shining down onto his dark brown fur made his fur look shiny and have a glow to it and his deep brown eyes stayed the exact same as they were in human form. I was amazed and intrigued and felt as if I just needed to look at him, to run my fingers through his shiny fur.
Next think I know, I'm directly in front of him and looking into his eyes that are at an even height with mine. I hesitantly reached my arm out toward his cheek but hesitated for a second.
"Can I..." I trailed off hoping he knew what I meant. He nodded his head in confirmation and my fingers instantly touched his wolf's cheek. He pressed his head into my hand and I let out an amazed gasp. This is incredible, I thought.
My hand moved from his cheek to his ear then down to his neck. When I felt him shift his weight lightly, I instantly recoiled my hand back to my body. I felt really jumpy because this is all new to me. It's the second time seeing him in wolf form but the first time meeting his wolf properly.
A small whimper left him as the contact between us disappeared. His ears dropped along with his head slightly which was a sign that I interpreted mean "don't be scared." He looked at me through those big dog eyes and I instantly fell in love with his wolf.
I reached back out and petted him again, running my hands all over his back and neck like a huge over grown puppy dog. A wolfish grin was plastered on his face as he lent into my touch and I soon found myself grinning like a mad man.
As I reached closer to the trees a small growl came from him and he ran extra quick and blocked my path with a warning look. I stopped running wondering if I had done something worn. He growled and looked into the forest, then back to me.
"Not into the trees?" I asked which he nodded to. "Because of the other wolf?" I questioned once again which he nodded again. "Okay then." I shrugged then took off back towards the house. A small yip came from him as he chased me, catching up to me and gently nudging me in the side before running around me in a circle.
Never in my life have I felt like I'm feeling now. My cheeks were hurting from the constant grin planted on my face and my heat felt like it was going to explode from happiness. If this is what life with Michael was like, I am hoping that it will never end. It's a constant paradise when there's no drama or bickering (mainly caused by me), and if not picking up on little things meant I was always this happy, I would clearly keep my mouth shut.
"Show off," I laughed shaking my head slightly. Michael ran another circle around me, this time even faster than the previous one, joking and playfully showing off in front of me.
He stopped in front of me with his tongue hanging out of his mouth and the grin plastered on his face before running more circles.
